I owned a Beoplay A9 2nd gen for almost 2 years, but I recently encountered some connectivity with my Android devices (a phone and a tablet) since October.
All the iOS devices are able to connect to the A9 easily, whereas for Android devices it prompted the following message:
Failed to connectUnable to connect to BeoPlay A9. possible reasons are:1. Bluetooth is disabled on the device or the device is not within range (10m)2. The device is already connected to another device. Please terminate that connection and try again.
The fact is I was standing next to A9 and no other devices are connected to A9. When i turn on the Bluetooth on iPhone, it is easily detected and connected.
There is only 2 ways I can get connected to the A9:
1. Hard reset2. Turn off the power completely for 1 min, and power up again.
By using the method above, I will pair with the Android devices again, this will work but after I turn off the Bluetooth, the same things happened again!!
The Wifi work completely fine, I have tested through Spotify via both iOS and Android devices.
I am not sure if you have encounter some issues before, BEO technical support said it could be the board issues, but I seriously doubt so, otherwise the iOS will not be able to connect, and hard reset will not work either.
The firmware is 1.17.24101.118790503
Please advise
If I want to connect to my A1, for what ever reason, geolocation service has to be turned on on my phone or tablet. Without this service turned on it's not possible to connect.
B&O says that this is an android problem.

Not for me ... just tried it and disabled geolocation service on my Samsung Note 8, android 8.
No issues at all. Connecting with my BS2 works flawlessly, no problems.
Thank you for your reply. I unpaired the A9 and turn on the location services, and pair again. It was listed in the Paired devices list, but when I click on the B&O A9 to connect, it is still showing the same Fail to connect message. Happen to both Android tablet (ver 6.0.) and mobile phone (ver 8.0.).
It is strange because all the while it is working fine until mid Oct the issue started.
Strange indeed.

Thank you all for your reply.
This is indeed a firmware issues, confirmed by the BEO engineer. I am unimpressed by the technical team for not testing on various platform before they actually published the firmware.
The new firmware 1.18.26837.147876856 was installed yesterday and it has solved all the connectivity issues on Android device. Credits to the engineer despite taking almost 1.5 months to the new firmware. and to the local customer support, please do not anyhow advise customer to bring the speaker down to the service center before you understand whether it is a HW or SW issue. FYI A9 is not a portable speaker.
