Hi,

Don't know if this is possible but I'll ask anyway.

I have the Beolit 12 working fine via airplay at home (with no dropouts). I want to be able to do the same say at the beach or wherever. Is it possible to use airplay wirelessly using the hotspot on the iPhone only?

I have setup a Beolit profile with the iPhone hotspot user name and password but I can't seem to get them linked.

Does anyone have any suggestion how I can get it working or am I destined to using a cable when away from my network.

Thanks

Peter

I tried it but couldn't get it to work. Having the phone physically connected although a bit of a chore, does give a better quality sound.

Hi,

I tried this as well and after failing gave up and spoke to a B&O dealer and they confirmed it was not possible. Which is a shame, but plugging the iphone in makes the battery last longer (8 hours vs 4 hours)

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

I have been trying repeatedly on and off for the last 3 weeks to try and get the hotspot airplay going to no avail.

The cable connection doesn't overly bother me but it would be good if it could be done wirelessly. Perhaps in future updates.....

It's a great device - the sound is amazing

As mad as it seams considering the price tag of something like a Beolit, but I got round this by buying a simple and very cheap Bluetooth receiver off EBay. The best sound? No, but better than nothing which the Beolit is currently equipped.

Plug this into your Beolit when out and about, and simply then synch it to your IPhone etc....

I haven't been able to find an "official" Beolit 12 thread, and after lots of googling I'm still left with some questions about this product.

It seems from early reviews that the main issues were that:

- It would go into standby (making it unable to receive Airplay)

- It would take a long time waking up from standby

- Setup required a wired connection between the speaker and a computer, and a good deal of patience

- It can't remember more than 1 wifi network

Now it also seems that the update has fixed some of these issues, but I'm not sure exactly?

Was that you got it working on the Hotspot?

I read on another thread that they had the Hotspot working bit have still not managed it.

Here's hoping.

Still love the sound from the Beolit 12

Beo 4's and a 6.

Have you found a self powered USB Bluetooth dongle that works? The Belkin units are powered via a mains transformer.

This would be handy to know!

Hi,

I've got it to work with my iphone hotspot without any fuss...

I just plugged an ethernet cable into the beolit, navigated via a computer to the settings page, fired up the iphone hotspot and added a wifi profile. Be sure to put it as standard. (or go test it somewhere where the other wifi profiles are (far) out of reach.)

It connects to the hotspot and the music app recognizes the airplay device.

Do note however, that this drains the battery of your iphone long before the beolit stops working. In the wild, I normally use a (long) usb-cable to connect, no drops and a much longer life.

Beolit 12 - Beolab 4 pc (dead now) - Beoplay H5 - Beolab 9 - BeoRemote One BT - Beoplay M3
