Can anyone tell me if there's a way to achieve the above?
I want to be able to switch the unit off and on at the mains, and every time I switch it on, it defaults to Aux.

Turning on to the mains will set the unit in standby mode.....ready for action, your action.
So, my answer is - is not possible.
