Hi
I have never owned a Beocom ever and B&O phones are one of the few products I really know nothing about. I have bought a 2nd hand Beocom 2 which will arrive soon. I have attached a picture of what comes with the phone...is that all I will need to make it work? I only need this phone connected to the telephone line as we never use the landline really. I don't see where the telephone line will plug in?

You'll need a PSTN base to go with it Ben. If it didn't come with one you'll need to check eBay as I doubt dealers will still have these although still worth checking. There are different models too and I can't remember if they all work with the BeoCom 2 or not or just the laters ones.
I just did a quick search on eBay and found this one from a Danish seller, which gives you an idea of what you need:

I had a couple of BeoCom 2s and a few BeoCom 6000s over the years and loved them a lot. The B&O phones were all fantastic designs and great products in my opinion. Shame they don't still make phones.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

One other thing to be aware of: I have bought several PSTN bases, and only the ones that were purchased in UK allow the 'caller display' function to work correctly on my BC6000s. If caller display is important to you, it may be worth buying locally.
One other thing: When I lived in Germany it was possible to register any of my BC6000s direct to my internet modem/router (without using a B&O PSTN base) - hence if you modem/router has this DECT function you may be able to do the same.

The first Beocom 2 had a base that was included in the charging station. The cord from the charging station had a socket where it was split in two leads. One for power and one for connecting to PSTN line.
That version of the handset can (or could) be upgraded to work with the "square" basestation.
Could be that the handset you have, do have the base built-in.
Others may have information on how you could check if your charger do include a "base" or not.

Thanks Hoirt, I did read about the first Beocoms having everything built in. The phone only arrives later today....so will have to wait for that. I presume a Beotalk 1200 won't be of any help?

Correct, it will not.
I have the old handset with the base included in the charger. I upgraded that at my dealer, so I could use the "square" basestation and connect more phones. I now have two Beocom 2:s and one Beocom 6000. The base is connected to my cable router where I have IP telephony service from my ISP.
Great that this old stuff is still usable, even if anyone rarely calls in on the fixed phone, other than people that want to sell something
I mainly keep the phones because they look so funky and still attracts interest when I have guests.
That is the only reason why I bought it because it looks so nice. I have not used the landline once where I live currently but I am sure next time I have friends over and we order takeout I will be using the Beocom 2!!! Sure to impress!!

That is exactly the occasions when I use my Beocom 2 :)
It is also useful as an extra remote for volume control and muting your B&O equipment.

I've just sold 2 of my 3 Beocom's as I never used them! Or haven't for years. They weren't even connected (I do have the PSTN transmitter if someone needs one). It's far too easy to pick up your mobile now! People were impressed by the Beocom 2, but perhaps about 10 years ago - now people wonder why you have a regular phone, I find.
The funny thing is, I still have the flaky Beocom 5's in my office and do use these (they are connected!), but they are still flaky - you can be on the phone and they'll lose the connection to the handset and disconnect, mid-call. I used to think the Beocom 5 looked amazing, but now it looks like a phone from the 90s
BenSA, there are 2 versions of the BC2, they both use different phone connections. I do not know how to tell them apart.
I had my battery changed for the first time and now it does not show caller display, just the time. I guess its a menu option.
There are more than 2 versions. In particular, since you are buying used & separate pieces, make sure not to buy a BeoLine 2 PSTN box from the USA, unless you have a USA phone: they transmit on 2.4GHz rather than DECT like everywhere else in the world (alas).
Is there a service manual available for the Beocom 2? Didn't found anything on Beoworld main site and yes, I'm a gold member. ;)

Unfortunately we do not have a Beocom 2 service manual.
There were three versions with each version having different type numbers for country groups
However the following information may be helpful.
