having moved house and now having a completely different room setup than previously, can my beosystem 6500 ( which had penta 3 and a beolab2 sub woofer connected through the powerlink cables and worked superbly ), be connected to my beovision 7 tv so that dvd's and music shows on the tv can be played through the penta and subwoofer, but also, when i want to use my beosystem 6500, it can also access and play through to the pentas and the subwoofer?

how would i go about this? many thanks for any help!.

Hi bikesupermoto,

Welcome to Beoworld!

Yes, the 1611 Beolink Converter can be used as mentioned above, this is a good solution for full control - you will need to go for this option if you have B&O products linked in other rooms, or if you don't have "line of sight" to both the TV and the Beosystem with the remote control.  For a simpler "single room" solution, a direct cable connection from the Beosystem to the TV is also possible.

Please ask if you need any help with the cables for either option and I will be pleased to assist you.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

many thanks steve + the other replies - its much appreciated.

im not sure what to do here.

i have the Bv7-40 mk2 with a centre speaker and the beosystem 6500, 2 x penta speakers and a beolab2 sub along with a 1611 beolink converter for ML to MCL connection.

looking through the manual for the tv, it seems to suggest connecting the speakers to the beosystem 6500 and using a ML cable to the 1611 which then connects to the beosystem 6500 audio unit. but will this give the best sound when watching for example a dvd?

i thought with the tv having all separate connections for each speaker - it would give better control of the relevant sounds to the relevant speakers by having the speakers directly connected to it.

rather than sending all the audio through the ml/mcl converter into the beosystem which then would feed the pentas, beolab2 - because what then drives the centre speaker under the tv?.

my preferred option would be to plug the pentas and the beolab2 into the tv and then use the 1611 converter to create a connection to the audio system so that it will send the sound to the pentas + sub when using the hifi. But when watching a movie, the tv can better separate the sounds to the pentas, the sub and the centre speaker.

does this make sense?  so speakers connected to the tv directly or to the hifi?  all the equipment is in one room, tv + hifi.

also where should i connect the centre speaker to on the back of the bv7 with this set up? there seems to be 2 sockets it can be connected to - power link centre on the left side panel, or cinema centre in the right side panel - which should i use and whats the difference - iv looked through the manual to get an explanation but cant find one!.

Hi

Yes it can, the bc 6500 has to be connected to BV 7-40. You will need Beolink converter box 1611 for converting the 7 pin Din AAL to ML.. Then you have to use option 2-0 (option 2 on bv7-40, and option 0 in BC 6500) You will have full control via remote eg BL 1000 or BEO 4. Penta and BL 2 to be connected to BV 7-40. You will have full display information on Penta. Penta must e in video mode not audio mode. You will have 2 way display on BV, but only one way remote control

Hi Again

Forgot to write. You will not have any loss of signal by using the Beolink 1611 box. The ideal setup are connecting speakers to BV 7-40. Also B&O recommends this setup.

Hi bikersupermoto,

Connect your centre speaker to the “power link centre”.

The “cinema centre” is designed for if you a projection screen and a separate centre speaker (it might, for example, be located on a different wall of your room from your Beovision). It would be invoked if you select picture format 0.

hello fritz

many thanks for this very useful information. i have connected the penta and beolab 2 to the bv7 and then the 1611 box sits between the tv and audio system 6500.  after i had set the BV to option 2 and the beosystem to option 0, it all works together very nicely although the control of the tv and the audio units is a little different using my beo4 remote.  after switching the penta to video mode the displays do indeed operate - although using a bluetooth streamer connected to the beomaster tape2 socket brings up a.tp2 in the penta display and n.music on the bv7.  however it all seems to be working okies - so thankyou everyone for all your help - its most appreciated.
