Hi Guys,

I am new here. I hope you can help me.

I have a two Beolab 8000 connected to my Loewe TV via Line-in. To make this possible I use a Loewe audiolink adaptor with 6 RCA plugs. Left, Right, Left back, Right back, Centre and Sub.

I recently bought a BL2 to complete the system.

As the BL2 has no line in, I found the trigger signal at an USB port on my TV. The BL2 switches on- and off as it should do. However I don't get any sound.

I connected the BL2 to the Sub connection of the Audiolink. I connected the two shields of the powerlink cable to the shield of the RCA cable. So far so good.

Now where to connect the signal? To the white lead in the powerlink cable (as is how the BL 8000 are connected) or to green/brown?

Neither seem to work.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Welcome to Beoworld!  When used with the Loewe TV via the Audiolink adapter, your Beolab 2 subwoofer needs a powered cable to generate the trigger signals that would normally be sent from a B&O television:-

This way, no special wiring is needed, this is a simple "plug and play" solution.  Please ask if you need any further help.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve,

Thanks for your prompt supply.

Unfortunately I cannot use a standard cable as it has to be fed through conduit piping in the wall.

So I cut off one plug of a standard powerlink cable, fed it trough the conduit piping and want to solder a RCA plug to it.

I used below schedule

B&O                                                                                                                           RCA

1 Grey   ---------

2 Shield ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shield

3 Brown ---------                                                          /

4 Yellow ----------------------------------------- + 5 V        /

5 Green ----------                                                     /

6 White  ----------                                                   /

7 Shield ---------------------------------------------------/                                            -------- Signal

8 Pink    ----------

I connected the shields and the trigger signal. This all seems to work fine as the light on BL2 turns from red to green as I switch on my TV.

Where do I connect my RCA signal? Should I connect both 2 and 7 shield together? Did I make a mistake or should it work?

Regards

Hi,

Sorry I can't advise you on soldering or wiring pinouts, I would suggest contacting a local installer to help you with this work if you are unsure.  There is a risk of damaging equipment if cables are wired incorrectly, so I would suggest getting professional help unless you know exactly what needs to be done.

Kind regards, Steve.

If you can't use the old cable as a draw wire for Steve's cable, then perhaps look through Peter Pans many posts. He has graphics on cable configs.

Good luck.

I have no experience wit Loewe audio link adapter, but I know Powerlink audio signal is PIN3 and PIN5 (Brown, Green).

GND is PIN2. I`d first try to use RCA left/right outputs to feed the BL2 and then connect Bl8000s to PL output of the BL2.

And yes, as BL2 needs the additional ground on PIN7, I`d connect both GNDs.

You will find more info about Powerlink in the ML handbook, starting page 101...

Hope this helps

Stefan

Stefan thanks,

The Beolink handbook seems a comprehensive work.

I'll start studying tonight ;-)

Thank you all for your help.

The B&O side works fine, the problem seems to originate from the audiolink adapter.

Hello Peter Pan, I am building a new cable for my fathers old BeoLab14 speakers as no other option will work in his flat. I found a satisfactory core and connector and then could not find the PIN diagram. Should have first things first I see. Can you share the information? Thanks from the Yule Dog!

Hi Peter Pan, Thanks.

This set-up causes serious humming (50 Hz?).

The setup that worked for me:

As the audiolink cable has a single sub RCA plug, so no stereo connection is required.

- I connected green and brown signal wires

- I connected the shields of green and brown signal wires

- 0V on the shields of the signal wires

- +5V on the yellow wire.

I did not use the data wire or data shield, now the humming is over.
