What is different about the DIN cables for turntables that were originally marked PH?
PH stands for PHONO.These cables are for use with turntables (think Beogram 8000 series).
PH and TP (TAPE) cables are different and you cannot use a TP cable for a turntable or vice versa.
PH cables are double shielded. They carry both chassis ground and signal ground and keeps them seperate. They have only two signal leads (left/right) so are playback only (you cannot record on a turntable).
TP cables (for Beocord taperecorders like Beocord 8000/9000) are single shield cables. They have four signal leads to support both playback and record (left/right respectively).
Both types are usually 7-pin cables, which means that they support datalink remote operation through a connected Beomaster.

Hi paxto,
Welcome to Beoworld!
Yes, Dillen is correct.
Whilst the exact type of wire that B&O used for the original PH cables is not longer available, I can still built a compatible cable that has the correct grounding connections and Datalink wiring for any classic Beograms. Please feel free to get in touch via my sponsor link below if you need cables to connect a turntable to your system and I will be happy to help.
Kind regards, Steve.
