Merry Christmas to all! I was lucky enough to receive a beautiful Beocenter 2300 in great condition. I would love to find a way to integrate it into my set up and wondering what any of you have done to update or make use of it in a modern set up?

I know next to nothing about the 2300 but I’d love to make it wireless. I also don’t have a lot of cds anymore, so any ideas what else I could use it for? Could I enable it for Airplay 2 for instance and set it up in the bedroom and stream to it?

My current set up is an Eclipse 55, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 19. I also have some wireless transmitters that I got for the 8000’s but I’m not currently using them (don’t know if they could be used in anyway for the 2300)

Any advice or suggestions to make use of this beautiful unit would be much appreciated.

Hi Solidsnake,

Yes, this can be done, as long as the 2300 is in the same room as the Eclipse and you have "line of sight" for the remote control to both products then you just need this cable from one of the Powerlink sockets of the 2300 to the L/R In socket of the TV to play CD and radio to the TV speakers:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/televisions/158-2365-powerlink-to-beovision-14-horizon-cable-link-your-audio-system-to-your-new-tv.html#/2-length-1m

Please set the TV to the L/R input and then you can operate the 2300 as normal with the remote.  Please set the 2300 volume to maximum so that the CD and radio match the volume of the other TV sources.

PS. Happy Christmas!

Kind regards, Steve.

SS: you mentioned Airplay 2 in your post.  I've readily connected an Airport Express (gen 2) to the AUX-in of a BC 4000/Ouverture.  There is a (final?) software update from Apple that will provide AP2 to the AEx (gen 2).  Use Apple's Airport Utility for the upgrade.

Steve (above) can hook you up with the proper cable to make the physical connection a snap.

Great. Yes, I use AirPlay 2 across my house at the moment so it would be great to integrate the 2300 into that. I also just came across the update to the Airport Express that enables it for AirPlay 2. So that sounds exactly what I need. So I’m going to try and buy one of those. I also need to get some speakers for the 2300, perhaps the Beolab 2500.

BeoFredric - did you have any issues with the Airport Express and your system? If you AirPlay music to it, does it wake the system from standby or do you need to turn the system on each time?

Steve At Heavenly Sounds - thanks for the advice. I don’t use cd’s so much now so I’m going to go for the AirPlay 2 option to use the 2300 as a wireless speaker hub in the bedroom. What cable do I need to hook up an Airport Express to the AUX input of the 2300?

Hi Solidsnake,

This cable will allow you to connect an Airport Express to the Aux socket on the back of your B&O system:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/minijack-to-aux-in-ipod-to-beosound-beomaster-beocenter-using-aux-din-socket

Please set the Airport Express volume to maximum when connecting to the B&O system – this is normal when using a portable music player with a home audio system due to the low output levels produced by the Airport Express.

To listen to the Airport Express, simply press "A.Aux" on the B&O keypad, or select this on the B&O remote control by pressing the "LIST" button until the display shows "A.AUX", then pressing "GO".

I use Airport Express on my own Beosystem 3500 at home for wireless music, I am very impressed with the sound quality and ease of use.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks very much Steve. I’ll order the cable from you once I get the Airport Express and speakers.

Solidsnake:

BeoFrederic - did you have any issues with the Airport Express and your system?

No issues. The AP2 works well and easily across your iOS devices (and Mac, if you have one). You’ll need to turn up the volume of your device, as Steve pointed out. Fortunately, that’s a ‘once-only.’ The device remembers different volume settings for each Airplay target.

Solidsnake:

If you AirPlay music to it, does it wake the system from standby or do you need to turn the system on each time?

The latter. Would be nice if....
