Hi there,
I am facing a problem with the spindler on a Beogram 4002. I cleaned and lubricated it but it is making a noise when returing the arm etc.. It sounds like something is vibrating thus making the noise. It is only when returning the noise i present and not in the other direction.
I have included a video of the problem.

Another related problem is with the white locking part as show on the image below. I would like to tighten it but if i thighten it too much it results in the spindler not moving. The same problem is existing if i loosen it too much.
Can anyone help me?
Kind Regards,

After redoing the spindle adjusments i was allowed to thighten the white locking mechanism but the noise is still present.

The mechanical adjustments can take some time to get aligned correctly. If the spindle was removed then it might not be in the correct position. Also, if work was done on the tangential arm assembly there might be a misalignment there. One thing to remember is to not over tighten screws. I just hand tighten. On the small set screws and screws involving plastic just gently secure them.
With the spindle you can remove the drive belt and operate it by hand feeling for changes in resistance. If the spindle is not perfectly parallel with the tangential arm guide rails it will cause a binding problem. You also have to check the spindle adjustment to make sure it is parallel to the rails horizontally and vertically.
I haven't run into any problems with the spindle nut itself on the Beogram 400x turntables. Like Jacques said, make sure the little indention on the spindle nut is on top to catch the mating nub on the plastic cap.

One other thing...did you lubricate the spindle?
Hi again and a happy new year!
I haven't done any alignments to the tonearm yet - i only removed, cleaned and lubricated the spindle before assembling it again.
I made some minor adjustments and confirmed that the spindle is aligned correctly on both axis. I also made sure that the indention on the nut is in the correct place.
Now it is moving freely all the way but the vibrating sound is still preset. Are there other adjustments to be made?
Happy New Year.
I'm afraid I couldn't tell anything from the video you posted. The problem has to reside within those specific components - the tangential arm assembly (its nylon guides and roller), the spindle and spindle nut, the guide rails, the drive pulley and the drive motor. Does the vibration only occur in a certain spot or is it there the whole way there and back? Is the nylon guide on the tangential arm assembly there on the front rail? Does the roller function okay on the back rail?
I'll try to make a better video.
The vibration is only present on the way back and it is worse at the end of the spindle than the start.
If i apply a light pressure to the tangential arm assembly the noise disappears.
The nylon guide seems to work as expected.
If you are confident that the spindle position is as good as you can get it and the rails fit properly in the tangential arm carriage then you might add little grease to the rails. I use the grease recommended in the Beogram 4002 service manual - Molykote DX paste...but plain silicone grease should work fine. It should help with the vibration. Don't put a lot on though. Just a nice thin coat along the top of the rail.
So i took the assembly apart to check the nylon guide sand the rail guides. Everything seemed to be as expected. Nothing loose or so.
Anyway i chose to clean everything once more and lubricated the rails with silicone.
Now evverything is perfect. No more vibration noises. Thanks for the help :)
Very good. On the Beogram 800x there occasionally has been a case where the arm carriage travel had a little vibration and silicone grease helped that. The carriage transport on the earlier 400x is very similar - 2 rails and a spindle. I learned that from Martin by the way :-).
Duly noted! Thanks again and have a nice weekend :)
Glad you got it working man!!
