"From January 2003, BeoLab 8000 was obtainable with new driver units giving extra bass at low levels. While not delivering as much as a BeoLab 2 (dedicated sub-woofer) the bass drivers with the newer BeoLab 8000 have a marked improvement over their predecessors. The upgrade involved new frequency equalization and improved ABL system. These improvements are mostly apparent at high volume levels. The changes are implemented form serial 16992475 onwards."
So this is MK2?

These serial numbers start 14, which is contrary to what the above quote says.
However I was told by the B&O service engineer these are Mk2’s.
I’ve read before on these forums there is some confusion over when the Mk2 serial numbers start.
Beocentral says the Mk2 starts from 10 serial numbers https://beocentral.com/beolab8000speaker
There are 3 types of Beolab 8000. The first one had a 3 way design, these range hntil serial 10x the there are the 2nd ones which were 2 way and range until serial 16x (these are usually referred to as MK1). Then there are the 3rd ones which have the bass upgrade and are refered to as MK2. Which would make these MK1. The foam was changes somewhere bewtween the MK1 and MK2.
Also, the only visible difference is that the black cable cover has pull written on the MK2 as opposed to PUSH on every other version.
If the serial number starts '14*****' they are Mk1's. 100%. Prossers are wrong.
Thanks all - in that case these are the second versions of the Mk1
In defence of Prossers, It’s highly likely I’ve misinterpreted Nick at Prossers as opposed to him being wrong.
I could easily have mistaken him saying “second version” as “Mk2” as I didn’t realise there were two variants of the Mk 1
