How do you open the lid on a Beomaster 5000

I feel silly for asking this question, but for the life of me I can't get the darn thing open to get inside. I've looked at the service manual, unscrewed every visible screw even if I didn't think it was holding down the cover and it won't budge. Clearly I'm missing something. Can anyone give me some advice?

2screws in back hold metal slide pieces down to stop lid from sliding forward. The metal slide pieces need to be up as to not catch on the bottom plate. I loosen the screws, slide up and lightly tighten to keep out of the way. Slide the lid to the front and lift off without bending or catching the tabs to the front.
