greetings again all and happy new year from tulsa, oklahoma!

i finally received and installed the soundsmith smmc4 cartridge, i made sure the tracking weight was set to the soundsmith specs and dang it all i only get sound out of the right side!  i did notice that there is a slider switch under the turntable for designated cartridges and mine is set for the mmc5.  i moved it to the mmc4 setting after trying it on the mmc5 to no difference.    it's hooked up to my beomaster 2400 (with all lights replaced with my kit from martin olsen and it looks spectacular!!!) which i've only been listening to the tuner on until the cartridge arrived.   i have not unhooked the turntable yet to try another source.   i suppose that will be my next plan of action unless one of you fellows knows of something else i should try.  you guys have had all of the answers for my queries so far and i'm hoping this is going to be something simple.   the turntable has been sitting in it's box for the last 35 years or so and was a gift to me from the original owner.  maybe it just needs a tune up (servicing)?

as always, i look forward to hearing from you!

best regards,

will

I’d try to narrow it down to a fault in the beomaster or the Beogram. Do you have any other external input sources available to test sound in both channels through the phono input of the beomaster?

i moved the beogram to another source and it's working properly, albeit it probably needs a little lube and all from sitting in a box for the last 30 years or so.

and i picked up a beocord 2000 from my electronics source today and it just plays out of one side on the beomaster as well, although it's the other side.  it plays out of the left side, the beogram played out of the right side.

so that narrows things down to the beomaster needing some work it appears.    where would a fellow begin looking inside the 2400?
