Hello,

Still working to resolve my Moment issues-- but my son who has Beolab 3s (with RJ45 cables) and Beosound Core.

Problem: Low level white noise when 2 speakers connected!

I have tried replacing the RJ40 splitter and this makes no difference as well as changing the RJ45 cable from Splitter to Core, again, no change.

When you connect EITHER speaker individually it works clearly and NO white noise.  As soon as I connect with splitter it introduces white noise to BOTH speakers.

I returned the Core to Copenhagen as well this past December.  BO gave me NEW core and New splitter-- same thing!

I really don't understand what can be wrong? I have the same setup for my tv (different house) but my Beolab 3 are old style using cable and NOT RJ45.

What else can I test or change?

This has been my BO 'battle year' it seems. Thanks, Ed

UPDATE:

We just tested each splitter (single speaker) into splitter and then core-- THIS produces white noise!

We have tried 3 splitters (2 being from BO and new; 1 from Amazon).  How can this be?

Any suggestions please welcome.

Thanks

Hi Ed,

RJ45 to twin female RJ45 splitters are notoriously problematic, which is why I have pulled these from stock until I can find somewhere that can build them reliably.  Instead, the following cable arrangement (using an RJ45 to twin female DIN splitter as an alternative) should greatly improve the performance and remove the noise:-

Splitter: https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/27-313-rj45-powerlink-compatible-splitter-new-powerlink-to-two-8-pin-din-powerlink-compatible-sockets.html#/20-length-02m

Cables (x2): https://soundsheavenly.com/powerlink-8-pin-din-connection/20-266-powerlink-mk-3-compatible-8-pin-din-cable-with-4-cores-wired-low-profile-cable.html#/1-length-05m

Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your email and thoughts.  It makes perfect sense.  The speakers are at my son's apartment so I can't look now-- but he has the later generation speakers (that use RJ45-- unlike my older Powerlink cables (which work perfectly with my Core and tv).  Will his speakers have a place to insert your 8DIN compatible cables ( the male side of the cable into speaker).  If the speaker has a 'female' place to fit your 8 pin cables than I fully understand how this works-- since the splitter needs to enter (male) the core as an RJ45.

If I had the speaker here at hand- then I could see and we order the 2 cables and splitter.

where are you located in the UK? Near London
Thanks

Hi Ed,

Yes, the Beolab 3 speakers will have 8 pin female DIN sockets to insert the cables that I mentioned.  I don't have a high street store, as I run an online business only, I am about 120 miles from London but I can post cables Worldwide.

Kind regards, Steve.
