Haven't used my Essence Remote for a quite a while together with the Moment and realized that I can't get it to work and what comes in mind is something has changed with v2.x of the firmware for the Moment?
The Moment is connected to ML-network via BLC and the primary speakers for the Moment is a pair of BL8000 connected to a BV10.
Neither this guide (How do I set up ER for use with Moment) or this guide (different IR mode settings) does the trick for me and it's currently set to Mode 1.
What I'm I missing out here?
Changed batteries as well and still no go and only function which seems to work is long press which turns off all units in the ML-network. But, it was a while ago I used it and can't remember whether I needed to pair it with the Moment or the BV10 - Can't really not find anything which indicates so.
When I asked Lyle at B&O if the Moment would be updated to work with the BeoRemote One BT in BT mode, he responded:
"Hej Jeff
There will not be such an update.Moment preceded all of those audio devices and was designed to use IR for control by Essence remote and the original BeoRemote One.
Cheers
Lyle"
Therefore, it looks like you can't pair the Essence in BT mode with the Moment. You have to set the Essence to send out IR commands, which would be received by the BeoVision 10.
The question is - what does the Remote in Mode 1 trigger on the BV10 in that case?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
One would need to program the NL/ML Converter accordingly for what sources should correspond to CD and to RADIO. A logical mapping would be to have RADIO (short press) trigger Tune In and to have CD (long press) trigger MUSIC.
However, this would not have to be the case. For example, one could map a source for Pattern Play or even to trigger a BeoGram turntable or a CD connected to another NL/ML Converter. You have full control over the mapping in the NL/ML converter.
Point is that the Essence Remote did work in the past but I haven't used it for a while so I just thinking that something changed during the Beta program for the Moment. As the Essence Remote is quite limited it was great for pausing, skipping tracks and crank up the volume. But, currently now neither the BV10 or the Moment reacts to anything when in Mode 1. Long press on the stop button does power off the entire ML-system. So it does work. Mode 1 enables BeoRemote One IR (BeoSound) - A sound system intended for use with BeoRemote One.
I'll try some of the other Modes to see if it makes any difference else I just need to try it at fellow BnO owners place or give me opportunity to visit my closet BnO shop.
Well, this was quickly resolved once taking the time. But, setting the Essence Remote to Mode 2 (Beo4 IR (RADIO) - A sound system intended for use with Beo4) and it worked as I've been used to. Got to say I really enjoy the Essence Remote - feels so nice to adjust the volume with this massive aluminum wheel.
