Dear Forum,
Inspired by Kiran's fantastic and instructive thread (you rock!), I decided to star my own. I am now refurbishing my entire flat (nothing the size of Kiran's Skynet), and in contrast, I have 0 experience with networking, assembling or even how to connect and link B&O products, both new and legacy, however I would like to try and do myself (cabling) as much as possible (of course all programming will be done by B&O and Teletask, but I like to understand whatever I put myself to as much as possible, learning is quite important (I believe), as such I would really appreciate you guy's vast experience on how to interconnect it all, to work also with other non B&O devices.

So this will be my set up, it's a 375m2 apartment, two floors. The data room will be placed on the ground floor, housing every bit of media, networking, audio, sources, everything. There's still a few items that I have yet to decide on, switches, modem, etc, your input is highly welcomed, I want the apartment to be as much future proof as possible (HDMI's 2.1, 8k, etc).
The reason I detailed each area, is that I want to be able to play whatever audio source (TV and projector included) on every zone/area, being simultaneously or separate. For instances, if I am in the living room, I would be able to listen on the Beolab 8000 only, the CD's on the Beosound 9000 that is placed in the sitting room. Or be able to listen to the living room TV (Sony), on the Celestial speakers in the kitchen. Or if I am having a party, I want to be able to listen in the entire house, the vinyls rocking on the office turntable, therefore 11 different zones.
How can I interconnect legacy, new and non B&O equipment as per the set up above? How can I have multiple zones? How can I play streaming services on legacy?
Steven@soundsheanvely, I will also need your assistance in purchasing the correct cables and length for the B&O!
Apologies for the lengthy thread, I much appreciate your input. Thank you all in advance,
P.S - I can post images of the works if you like

Hi Bpfontes,
Welcome to Beoworld! This sounds like a superb project and I will be happy to help with any cabling questions. I will follow this thread with interest!
As a fellow musician and movie lover, the Cinema Room and Piano Room are the ones that really got my attention - is your piano acoustic, or will you be looking to play or record electronic instruments in the piano room as well?
If you feel able to add some photos please as the work progresses, this will make it easier to visualise the project and to assist with any questions.
Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Chucky,
Thank you so much for taking your time to assist, more so on such a lengthy thread. I was afraid that I would have indeed some limitations on getting everything that I want, please let me try and understand:
- What is the reason for this (not being able to have the 9000 playing on the Celestial)? Wouldn't be possible via the Moment? Or the 9000 will not connect to the moment?
- Which other speakers from the entire set up, will it not be able to play?
- Is there any other limitations or constraints that you can see, as per my intentions?
- Will I need an AV receiver to assist with the setup?
- I'm under the impression that I will need several Core's to be able to have a multi zone environment, if so, is it needed one per zone? Do I need the Essence also? (the Teletask panels are able to manage basic audio functions, maybe its enough if I don't want to always resort to the app)
- Is there a way to use streaming services and Nas on all of the speakers, the 9000 and the Overture?
- Finally, how do I connect it all? I mean, what goes where? :)))))
Thank you so much!
Hi Steve,
Thank you for your warm welcome and interest. The piano is indeed acoustic, I was however considering to have a turntable that would allow me to record onto the computer directly or/and to the Nas...there's a few in the market.
I forgot to mention that the entire flat is an open concept, the only closed areas being the bathrooms, laundry room and server/media area. The idea is to have an open flow to the entire living experience, hence the need for my audio, video/image and lighting to be fluid. A set up where I can easily move from one area to the other and "take" with me, if I like, any mood, sound or image. I can start Bob Dylan on the living room and move to the sitting room and take that sound with me, or be in the kitchen when the football starts and head to the cinema room and take that channel and sound with me (Pulse Eight does that beautifully). So its important to get the sound aspect done properly
Before...
Now
Bedroom - To the left, just above the fireplace, there's a small pipe, that's for the Beosound 1! So small yet so important
Sitting room - The 9000 will go to that pillar - apologies for the pics, I am still trying to figure out how to upload it properly, the original size is over the allowed limit
chucky:Hi congrats looks great, 375 m2 is not small You miss at least a Beolink ML / NL Converter and what are you using to play the Beosound 9000, you will not be able to play directly on the Celestial. Accessing it from another room will not be possible Moving on to an integrated smart home killed the doorbell.
Hi Robin,
Thank you for your email, I will keep you posted, works are progressing slowly, but surely.
Could you elaborate on the external amplifier? Can you recommend?
Thank you
Beoamp2 if you want a powerful B&O icepower for the celestial? or parasound 1250 for zone amplifier maybe..
Beoamp2 with powerful icepower for celestial, or the parasound zonemaster 1250 if zone amplifier needed.
Robin,
Many thanks, well explained and understood. As we speak, I am looking at a few AV receivers, please have a look at this https://hometheaterreview.com/denon-avr-x8500h-receiver-reviewed/, would this work?
Is at all possible to play Spotify Connect for instances or Airplay on the Beosound 9000 and the Overture, via Bluetooth?
Quite a hit and miss adding images to the thread....struggling like you won't believe :)))

There is a tv - and there is a BV
andybandy: Beoamp2 with powerful icepower for celestial, or the parasound zonemaster 1250 if zone amplifier needed.
Hi Andybandy, thank you for your input. I am looking online at the BeoAmp 16, quite interesting. I wonder if this would work. Considering that I have:
1 pair of 2.2 for the kitchen
1 pair of 2.1 for the corridor
1 pair of Celestial for the piano room
1 pair of Celestial for the cinema room
1 pair of Celestial for the sitting room
1 pair of Bose for the terrace
1 - Would it work to have a BeoAmp 16 to power those passive speakers, create the different zones as always intended and connect with the pair of Bose thus another zone?
2 - Where would the Core fit in? Would it connect Palatial (also in the cinema room) and the 8000 (living room)? And the non B&O TV's?
I have a feeling that I am all over the place here
1. YES =) Correct. Parasound 1250 is an option if you not find more Beoamp 16. Because beoamp 16 is marked obsolete. No more at B&O.
2. you need 1 core for each zone.
beolab 8000 need a core, and what you have in the cinema room for source? Palatial need to connect to a beoamp 2, and then to a surround sound receiver or a B&O TV. if you have a surround sound receiver and non B&O TV. You maybe need core, if you want the full integrated setup. Or you can chose a receiver with built in airplay 2 or chrome cast, and use that type of multiroom.
But that is not so good if you have a beolink getaway and want to have a more smart home integration and want to trigger the music, when the lights going on as an example...
hope it help to clarify your question...

I am well aware, that there are people on this forum, who can give you a lot of advice. However, this is certainly not a small project - and your preferences are very specific. My best advice would be to involve the guys from B&O and the Teletask (whatever that is) in the project BEFORE digging too deep on your own. I truly understand your wish ‘to understand whatever I put myself to as possible...’. But these things are highly complicated - it might cost you a lot of trouble, work/re-working and money to start off without experienced people being involved in the planning from the start. Whatever you do, be sure to make good a documentation of all things done - it will help, when troubleshooting is needed somewhere along the road. Even guys in knowing here might be overwhelmed from the shier amount of questions that your post rise. Wouldn’t it be much better to ask specific questions here - like ‘why would I need a converter to bridge old and new B&O devices’, or ‘what would I need to drive the (passive) Celestials from BS9000, how do I integrate non B&O televisions in a B&O NL and ML setup, do I really need all these Cores etc, etc.........just that you learn how these things work? Will be interesting to follow the progress of your project. MM
HI MM,
Thank you so much for your feedback. Most certainly the goal here is to understand how this all works and interacts one another, the wealth of knowledge here is astonishing and with this thread, the point is to be able to not only achieve the mentioned, but also to have it challenged or not, my preconceived concept for the flat. Nevertheless apologies for the broader questioning, I am positive that as my understanding grows, the questions will be more incisive. Also note that I am not doing it myself ::))) I wish I could.
Regarding the project, we are now opening the various holes on the walls around the flat (everything will be via walls and ceiling only) for everything really, sound, lighting, home automation, automatic drop irrigation for interior plants, centralised vacuum, etc. Next step will be to insert flexible tube to house the cabling.
I will try to post more pics

Great! I will look into the BeoAmp 16 and the Parasound 1250 more closely thank you, will keep you posted.
Core = It goes along with what I had in mind, thanks
I will be using a Pulse Eight CEC Neo Matrix, which allows to 8 sources, the idea is to have them all in every TV in the house, the matrix allows for that (up to 10 outputs). Therefore the cinema room will have access to the setup box, Apple TV, Xbox, Roku, etc, I want the sound to come out of all B&O speakers, whatever zone would be.
If I have something like the BeoAmp 16 or the Parasound, then the Palatial would connect to it, yes. But I am thinking, for cost saving purposes, if I have an AV receiver capable enough, then I would be able to power the passive speakers, allow for different zones and connect to the matrix sources, what do you think?
Teletask (home automation) has integration with B&O.

I think the best out of the speakers will be beoamp 2 (for pair of speakers) beoamp 16 or parasound. Connected to a cinema prosessor. because most of the AV receiver have not the same power.. But yes, for a cost saving, could work:)
Or have you look into what origin that make the celestial / palatial have.
They have an amplifiers that call valet (4 zone amplifier ) with built in alex support in the ceiling =) look so cool. i saw you want to go for google home in the celling. but look on the valet

Hi Mikipidia, thank you. The house was brand new, but not to my taste, absolutely, will keep you posted, it will take a while for sure :)))
I have a few before and after pics, will try and post the before's...

Andybandy,
I just had a look, quite cool indeed! Thanks for the suggestion, will dig into both more closely. in reality I will be mixing Amazon and Google, the home automation supports both. Also the smart shower, I will be able to put the shower running and adjust the temp from the bed or from the ground floor via the assistants....now I which the house was done already!! :)))
Thanks for posting the pictures. As work is already in progress, it could be prudent to keep access to the cable routes open until you are sure of the way that everything will be connected. If you can run spare shielded Cat 7 cables to each point from your central wiring hub/equipment cabinet, that will be a great help for "future proofing" when new technology comes out.
To address your questions about which products will work together, the simple answer is that all of them can work together, if they are set up according to your needs. The secret to a good installation is to be sure of what you want to achieve.
The best place to start is to sketch up a layout of the house, showing the rooms, speakers, TV, projectors, etc, plus any physical music players (eg. turntables).
Next, look at which audio and video sources need to be available in each room and add them to the sketch. If you have a group of rooms where you will often pass through whilst listening to the same music (eg. kitchen, lounge, dining room) then you can mark these in together as a "zone" to ensure that you have access to your music from all speakers in these areas.
For B&O wireless multiroom music, there is no problem as you can simply select the music to be played on each speaker as required. However, for Masterlink products, it can be helpful to identify where you wish to play the music to and control it from.
As an example, at home I have two "zones" for music, the first for my office and the rest covering the lounge, dining room, kids' playroom, master bedroom, family bathroom and ensuite bathroom. This is because there will only ever be one music source playing in the main area of the house (and my wife likes to be able to go from room to room without losing the music), but I may have something different playing in the office at the same time.
If you share the house with other people, their viewing and listening habits should be considered as well, for example if one person will play the turntable in the music room while you play CDs from the Beosound 9000 in the lounge, etc.
Hope this helps! Please ask if you have any questions.
Me too! I thought the kitchen looked fantastic! I really liked (what I thought) looked like a polished concrete floor. Very nice and industrial looking but not too industrial, therefore working very nicely with the more natural toned kitchen cabinets. A nice feeling of open space.
I undertook the same total refurbishment last year in a small 2 bedroom mid-terraced property. The starting point for the whole project for me was planing around space(s), colours (ironically given the current thread on colour) and the 'feel' that I wanted to achieve. For me, that was a feeling of calm, quiet and serene. My colour choices to reflect this were pastel shades (so more on the lighter shade palette) of blues, yellows and orange (kitchen & furnishings) against a grey and white backdrop. This theme features on both floors with industrial touches of exposed brickwork (feature walls) steel (windows, bifolds, staircase) and wood (floors, skirting, windowsills).
Much of the work needs to be done in the design stage I feel as much harder to change once the bulk of the work has begun. I spent 6 months designing the property beforehand which seems ludicrous at times for such a small space! Things of course don't always go exactly to plan so having a back up plan (or 2, or 3!!) is always a bonus - this was something I hadn't initially considered but now know having reached the end of the project! Not to mention new pipework, electrical, telephony, drainage connections and the utility companies involved to change the outside of the property too. all a huge undertaking and immensely stressful.
I too will be following this thread with interest as with Kieran's.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Hi Beonic Man, thank you for your contribution. Indeed the kitchen is nice, at this stage nothing yet changed, the construction company just covered it, its still there. You are right, the floor of the house is polished concrete (microcement), in fact the entire house will be in that, being walls, floor and ceiling, I call it Bunker :)...I know original right
I will change the kitchen to Binova's Vesta model, it will now be made of white marble (exterior), instead of the traditional melamine or MDF, with a cooking top done directly into the marble, meaning, direct induction via the marble stone, so from a view it will seem as if its just the kitchen countertop (Binova's induction technology).
Like most of us, I am very into new tech and design, how to complement and interact the both. The house was good before, but not to my personal taste, I want it to be fully controlled by home automation, top of the line audio speakers and system (B&O), with all its flaws :), etc. any given socket, exactly where I want, the dining table and the office desk will be works of "art", and will then be covered in the same polished concrete, as if it was part of one big concrete chunk and will have inbuilt Qi wireless phone charging docks...
I very much appreciated your description of your reno, it would be great to see some images, fell free to post if you like.
Will keep you all posted.
Thanks Kiran,
I have the RJ45 to RCA adapter (B&O equivalent part number 6271216) available here if required: https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/65-365-rj45-powerlink-compatible-to-twin-phono-cable-output-from-new-bo-devices-to-amps-receivers-etc.html#/5-length-5m
Hi legendary Kiran! Thank you for the sent information, I had seen it on your thread and indeed is quite informative and explanatory. I have an immediate question though, how many different zones can I create with the BeoAmp 16? Will it depend on the number of speakers (passive) that I have?
I am looking to create 11 different areas, would I need a Beo16 and a few other Beo2 for instances?
To have all speakers, passive or active (when needed) working in the same zone, do I connect both onto the Beo16/2, or its only for the passive speakers.
If my home automation allows for B&O integration, I don't necessary need the Essence right? I would imagine that you are able to control your audio from your Lutron wall plates, right?
