After performing perfectly for many years, my Beocom 6000 system has today stopped working and is showing a 'Line Busy' message on each of the five handsets. Nothing I have tried has resolved this problem.
My internet is working as usual so the incoming 'phone line would seem to be OK.
I have tried plugging the table charger/base station directly into the 'phone socket ie. removing the internet modem from the 'phone system but this has not solved the problem. I have also removed and then re-fitted the battery from the handset that is usually paired with the charger/base station but again, no joy.
What suggestions can members come up with to resolve this?
If any of the members can shed any light on this problem and suggest a remedy, i would be very grateful. I am quite prepared to source a S/H replacement charger/base station as I do not want to replace my Beocom system.
Further to my post Re: 'Line Busy' message, if I call my home number using a mobile 'phone, I get a normal 'ringing out' tone on my mobile, not an 'engaged' tone yet there is no ring tone from my Beocom system.
If I then pick up and answer the beocom handset, I get a quiet buzzing noise with a very faint ring tone in the background.

If you call your landline from your mobile, the ringing tone you hear is generated at the exchange not by your landline phone. I've never tried it but if you unplug all landline phones then call your home number I bet you still hear a ringing tone.
With regard to your question, the fact that all five handsets show line busy indicated the problem lies at the PSTN end i.e. not five faulty handsets. I would check the small adapter on the end of the Phone line cable. This converts the small square plastic plug to a BT plug. That would be the most common problem I've come across.
Can you make internal calls from one handset to another?
