Hi everyone,

I recently purchased Beoplay A1 and I'm stunned with the quality of sound.

However I have a very annoying issue with it, it continues to disconnect, turn itself off, and on again every few minutes of playing. This issue makes it unusable. I tried on a computer, tablet and it's the same.

Also without being connected, it seems to live its own life, randomly beeping and turning itself on and off.

Another issue is that sometimes it doesn't turn on, I have to plug the cable in order for the power button to be responsive..

I've updated the software to the latest version, but the problem remains.

Have anyone had a similar issue?

Many thanks,
Shemek

It does have a 15 minute "battery saver".  That is, if it sits for 15 minutes with no sound, then it will turn itself off (even if it is plugged in).  This isn't random, but it could appear random if you don't know about it.

My A1 will turn itself off sometimes when I playing via AUX in.  I haven't seen your other problems.  Any chance you can return it to the dealer?

Thanks for your reply.

It disconnects and turns off and on again during activity, when playing. Sometimes it's less than 2 minutes after it's connected, and sometimes a little more.

I'm trying to figure out whether there is a way to solve the problem, if not I think I will have to return it.

Many thanks though

Hi! I found your post when I Googled for "A1 shutting itself off" - mine is doing exactly what you're describing, sometimes turning itself off when I'm playing via AUX in. By any chance, do you know if there is any fix for this?

I am also wondering whether it's possible for ToneTouch to work on AUX in audio. I am able to control the volume while using AUX in port, but not ToneTouch, which only seems to work when the sound is coming through bluetooth.

If anyone has any insights I'd much appreciate it... just got the A1 a couple of weeks ago and am still learning it  Smile

Thanks!

This doesn’t sound normal. I’ve been using an A1 for the past year with no issues of turning off randomly. Only the 15 minutes of inactivity causes it to turn off. In fact, that’s only on battery - when plugged in, I have to physically turn it off, it doesn’t turn off automatically.

Hi Kat,

My A1 was replaced, and the issue is no longer with the new item. It's such a relief as it's a nice speaker, it was completely unusable with the issue. The box had different photo/design than the one I got first time, so I preasume it's a different/newer model, as of still A1 but more latest perhaps.

Hope you get your fixed or replaced

Hello,everyone,

I have exactly the same problem, on Beoplay A! I purchased two weeks ago. I have a iPhone 12.

The sound just intermittently on and off every 2-3 min. Is this a defective item? B&O customer service department, please answer so we do not waste time to figuring it out.

Thanks

I can confirm that my A1 also behaved like this after about 2 years use. I thought it was faulty and was going to throw it away. In the end, I tried using my iPad Pro USB-C charging cable instead and this fixed the issue leading me to conclude that the problem was with the cable. The A1 was still charging intermittently so it wasn’t immediately obvious. Perhaps try swapping cables then to see if there’s a difference? Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Having similar issues on my Beoply A1 as well. This is really annoying. Withing 4 months of purchase, this has gone bad. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

yeah it has been discussed before. Also I do have these issues with my A1 box, 1st gen. B&O never really fixed the problem.  Also the issue in the beginning post that it randomly turns ON out of nowhere, in the middle of the night.

I do also have the issue that the microphone can't be deactivated and the box does phone calls, web searches etc. by itself.
