Hi,

I have a set of beolab 17 connected to a transmitter1. As for the source I have a beosound core connected to the transmitter with a toslink. But the volume is quite low I think. If I set the volume at 25% there is almost no sound coming from the speakers, at 50% it is possible to hear something, but I have to go up to at least 75% to get some kind og "living room volume".

Does anyone have any tips regarding the volume? I have tried to reset both speakers and the transmitter1 several times, but nothing seems to help.

Why don't you connect the Core to the PL port of the TR1? It is made for that

Good question! I just haven't thought of it i think. Will it matter (help), and in that case, what will be the difference you think?

The short answer is, it will work!

However, before you change the cable setup, do have a look in the settings of the Core = optical out can be volume regulated.

This is can be set with the app under configuration-sound settings-optical out.

Have a look at the screenshots from liberal in this thread and check, if you can change anything there - in order to keep the connection via spdif out:

You’ll get the volume control, and possibly a better product integration within the TR1 and the B&O ecosystem, as well as more option in the future if you acquire other PL capable products.

I would save the optical input of the TR1 for other non B&O products that have optical output and volume control.

Thanks. I have already changed the settings on the optical output  to make the volume adjustable. The problem has been that the highest volume has been too low.

I have switched to PL as suggested and it actually helped a lot! Big Smile Thanks again!

Now I only have to fix a hiss in my speakers that i belive comes from my T1, and the fact that the T1 have problems connecting to my speakers from time to time and 'breaks up' the sound so that I have to reset and connect it to my speakers again.

Make sure to update the TR1 via USB Stick to the latest Software available.

This helped a lot in my case.

I updated it yesterday, but the hiss didn't go away. It seemed like the T1 froze after the update though, with the red light in front left on until I disconnected the t1 from the power.

Do you have a 5 GHz Wifi network nearby? This could seriously impact the quality of the TR1 <-> speakers communication.

I would aslo check the version of the TR1 Software as well as the speakers' one. The latest is 1.1.4.5310 dated January 15 2018 including:

wpl_tx:   1.1.4.5310 (FEP: 1.15a), (DSP: 0.60a), (SUMMIT: 0204-01)
BeoLab17: 1.1.5.6210 (FEP: 1.90a), (DSP: 1.96j), (SUMMIT: 0204-01)
BeoLab18: 1.1.5.6210 (FEP: 1.90a), (DSP: 1.96j), (SUMMIT: 0204-01)
BeoLab19: 1.1.5.6210 (FEP: 1.90a), (DSP: 1.96j), (SUMMIT: 0204-01)
BeoLab20: 1.1.5.6210 (FEP: 1.90a), (DSP: 1.96j), (SUMMIT: 0204-01)
BeoLabR1: 1.0.1.6211 (FEP: 1.00a),               (SUMMIT: 0204-01)

Lastly, the placement of the TR1 is also a factor to consider when very close or aligned with the speakers, sometimes moving it a very few cm solves communication issues.

I have updated the software, but how do I check that the new software have been installed? How do I check the version?

You should have a LOG file in the USB key that you inserted in the TR1 to perform the update. This log should have all the information you need.

I have three files on my memory stick after update.

A Debug, a WPL_DUMP and a RRaA file.

I'm guessing that the update failed since there is a debug-file after the update?

I'm not a B&O engineer but it looks like both your BL 17 have the latest FW (204-1) and that at the time you did it your Core was connected to the Optical port of the TR1.

You also have ALWAYSON=1 which means that the TR1connection to the BL 17 is always on for faster start up when music starts, which also means that power consumption is somewhat higher compared to standby mode where connection is established in a few seconds when sound signal is detected by the TR1 and put back in standby after a couple of minutes of inactivity.
