My apologises if this topic has been covered previously, but today I went to Colchester (Britain's oldest recorded town) to visit the B & O store, from which I have purchased much equipment over the past 18 years, including BeoSound 2 and Beosound Core last  December

To my astonishment the shop was completely closed, with heavy shutters over the windows and a brief notice to the effect that it would be closed until further notice.

Does anyone know any details about this closure, and if or when it may reopen? Any info. would be welcome.

Another good one bites the dust....

Rob and his team were excellent. He was a true B&O enthusiast and a true brand ambassador..  I do wonder if taking on B&O Norwich had an effect on this, or it would have happened anyway.

I wish him well in the future, as well as all the staff and support team.

Does anyone know how many dealers are left, worldwide, and how that compares to their peak? At least here in the US finding a dealer is about as hard as finding an honest politician.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Jeff, does that mean there are no stores left anymore?

I was lucky to visit them last year. Decent honest folk. The days of finding that familiar sign on the high street, is soon to be a rare thing.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

It has closed temporarily and will be under new ownership soon, watch this space some of us still believe!

I wish Rob all the best in the future.

Oh, wow. I only told a Colchester-based friend to pop into the store this weekend (he wanted a Bluetooth portable speaker recommendation)!

To be fair, that's what they said about the Bath store and it took another year for it to reopen (and it's since closed again). I do wonder if 'it will reopen soon under new ownership' is B&O's description of 'we don't know what's happening...'.

I was there a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday and was surprised to see it closed, I thought I'd try again in a couple of weeks. I wanted to see a Beovision Horizon in the flesh so that I could persuade myself and significant other that it was worth the cost - and that it would fit in the cabinet. Having said I won't buy brand new B&O the beovirus and impending doom of the BV8 is making me eat my words!

Hopefully they will be back soon.

Excellent news.  B&O Colchester have just re-opened under a new owner but with the previous manager and technician.  Let’s hope they prosper.

Yep, I was told that a little while ago but couldn't say anything in public. He's a lovely bloke and I'm sure he'll make a very good go of it.

Good Luck Darren.... you lunatic. Laughing

Superb news!

Great to hear that a good B&O store has been saved from closure.  Best of luck Darren!

Kind regards, Steve.
