Hi all,
i am trying to fix a beogram RX (5773),
upon pressing 45/33 to start playing the record, everything seems fine. the tone arm has automatically gone to the start position (i.e. the outer edge of a record) and it gently falls into place.
not two seconds go by, untill it slides right off the platter and back out to end position (i.e. perpendicular to the table's width dimension)
it seems that there is a force pushing it back out to end position (as if the record ended) .
i should mention that everything else seems to be in good working order except for the fact that the weight is loose (comes right of the axis with no mechanism that locks it in place, making it a challenge to balance the tonearm, though it still is possible).

The counterweight is common fault on this design of tonearm, it can be remedied with some supper glue, I would advise using a high viscosity super glue.
From your description my guess would be the diamond has detached from its shank, have you got another cartridge to test it?

Thanks for the reply, I uploaded a video of the issue https://youtu.be/JjxmkKtO-0M, any other suggestions regarding the causes for this problem ( since I don’t own another cartridge)
Do you have any information regarding how to glue the counterweight?
You have no record on the platter and you have no cartridge.The tonearm cannot be balanced and the antiskating takes control of the sideways movements of the tonearm.All perfectly normal.
The deck should actually refuse to start without a record.This could point to a stuck down center tap.
And when you fit a cartridge DON'T attempt to play the deck without a record!
