Hi all,
i alredy posted at the workbench forum but i thought maybe this is where i should have posted.
i am trying to fix a beogram RX (5773),
upon pressing 45/33 to start playing the record, everything seems fine. the tone arm has automatically gone to the start position (i.e. the outer edge of a record) and it gently falls into place.
not two seconds go by, untill it slides right off the platter and back out to end position (i.e. perpendicular to the table's width dimension)
it seems that there is a force pushing it back out to end position (as if the record ended) .
i should mention that everything else seems to be in good working order except for the fact that the weight is loose (comes right of the axis with no mechanism that locks it in place, making it a challenge to balance the tonearm, though it still is possible).
The force pulling it out will be the antiskating. - all normal. If you balance the tonearm to a tracking force of apprx 1.5 grams and the needle sets fine in the lead-in groove, but then slidesout to the right, it could point to a bad (tip-less) needle.
I suggest you repair the counterweight issue first. Without it you cannot set the tracking force correctly.

Thanks for the reply, I uploaded a video of the issue (YouTube link below). In light of the video, do you have any other ideas about what might cause this (since I don’t have another cartridge)

I just got a beogram RX (5773) yesterday, it is doing the exact same thing.
ProGram:Better you use a record
I agree.- And a pickup cartridge where the whole front and the needle is still present...
