I have recently got a couple of B&O machines up and running and may have caught the bug !
I have returned a Beocenter 2200 back to service and also a Beogram 1202. Thanks to the information here this was a great help so thought I would join in.
Regarding the Beocenter 2200 I was attempting to use the tape in din to connect an external Philips CD160 player. I am hoping it was coincidence but just after, I lost full volume on one channel followed by the other 2 days later. This was the same for all audio functions.
I repaired by replacing 4-off electrolytics around the cut out for radio dial. I am nervous about connecting the CD player back up though as I am worried this may not have helped.
The CD specification states line output at 2v. I am trying to establish max input for the Beocenter din tape in channels. Can anyone help as 2v appears to be on the high side for line levels.

We've got the Service Manual for this machine in our archives (Type 2421/22/25). If you upgrade to Silver Membership you can access all of the manuals as often as you wish!

Those capacitors are known troublemakers.It's not something that happened because you connected something to the Beocenter.It would have happened regardless - sooner or later.

Thanks guys. I have circuit diagram and a reasonable background in electronics but the coincidence put doubt in my head. I have looked to see if my CD line output level was comparable to an older B&O cassette output level and then deduce it would be ok. However other equipment looked to be lower levels (0.75v etc.)
From what you are saying the input should be able to handle the line level outputs of my CD. I will connect up again and see how we go.
For anyone replacing the troublesome capacitors, make sure to lie them down in the same direction they were removed. Otherwise they foul the radio dial mechanism. Guess how I know !

You helped me a few years ago regarding a Tape issue on my Beocentre 2200 which thanks to you and your detailed ‘How To’ ended up working again.
I now have a speaker channel problem, the right channel is fine but the left is very quiet - is this the dreaded capacitor problem I see often on the forum or something simpler???
I have tried different speakers (KEF 1032 - 8ohm - Beovox MCX35, & Beovox S30) and all have the same problem so it is definitely something internal
Please help if you can ....
Most likely to be a capacitor problem.There's a lot of, occasionally green but most often black, subminiature capacitors, that are known to leak and break down.A bunch of them sits around the round hole in the large board (operating panel), but they are found on almost all boards.Green powderlike stuff on their pins is a definite telltale, but they may easily be bad even if they look alright.If some of the green TK types are fitted elsewhere - or everywhere - they will also be bad or at least marginal.
I suggest you replace them all.

I’d like to replace them all myself if that is possible, but before I open her up again do you have a rough idea of how many of each Black/Green there are - and are they all the same rating ???

Sorry, I can't say for sure, but I seem to remember them being of quite different capacitance and voltage ratings.The servicemanual should provide more information.A general service kit for the Beocenter 2200 is something I will be looking into in the future, but I haven't got anything ready at present.
