Hello smart tech people (that's not me).

I have a 1998 Beosound Century 2655 in excellent working order. I want to connect my android smartphone to it via bluetooth (or other wireless option) to play music through the Beosound speakers.

I bought a Logitech Bluetooth audio receiver. I also bought an adapter with RCA Jacks to a Bang & Olufsen 7-Pin DIN Plug. I plugged the adapter into the seven-point auxiliary plug in the rear of the Beosound, and connected the Logitech device to the adapter via the two (red and white) RCA jacks.

I then successfully linked my smartphone to the Logitech device via bluetooth. Then I tried to play a song using YouTube. My phone was silent (volume on full) suggesting it was successfully blue-toothed to the Logitech adapter. I had the B and O selected to AUX with volume turned up. There was, however, no sound from the B and O.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Might a chromecast audio work better?

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi and welcome to Beoworld!

Are you able to test the RCA to DIN adaptor with anything else?  If not, simply select AUX, turn the volume up on your Century and touch your finger lightly against the centre pin of one of the RCA connectors - there should be a noise/hum which confirms the signal path and lead.

A possibility (if the above test does not work) is that the lead is wired to the output pins of the B&O DIN, rather than the required input.  In this case you'd new a new lead.

Hi pb7,

Welcome to Beoworld!  First, are you sure that the cable linking the receiver to the Century is wired correctly?  This cable has the correct wiring for your needs, but not all cables bought elsewhere will be correctly wired for this application:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/52-72-stereo-rca-twin-phono-to-beosound-aux-input-din-socket.html#/2-length-1m

Please set the phone volume to maximum when connecting to the B&O system – this is normal when using a portable music player with a home audio system due to the low output levels produced by the phone/bluetooth receiver.

To listen to the bluetooth receiver, simply press "A.Aux" on the B&O keypad, or select this on the B&O remote control by pressing the "LIST" button until the display shows "A.AUX", then pressing "GO".

Please ask if you need any further help.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Thanks Guy - I did the test. Turned Century up to full volume, inserted the lead into auxiliary input, touch fingers against RCA connector, then inserted and removed the RCA jacks from the bluetooth device. Not a sound from the speakers. Per your advice, this would seem to suggest the RCA/DIN lead is not conveying input to the Century. May need to purchase new lead, per the next post?

Thanks Steve. Per previous post, there is doubt about the cable wiring. Here's the cable I used:

I've now bought the cable you recommended. Fingers crossed.
