- at least it would then have had a curiosity factor - as opposed to being a flight case for headphones - who puts their headphones in the hold on a flight
Finally! a product to swing the rapidly declining share prices into the right direction!
Okay... for once (recently) I'm going to say I approve of the link with Rimowa... Not like anyone cares if I approve or not, but it makes me feel better saying so.
A very strong high-end luggage brand (air travel) and a tie-up with some decent noise cancelling headphones (air travel) is a great marketing dove-tail. I like it.
However, I'm sad to say that I feel it was executed badly.
Rimowa fans would surely want the 'double-bubble' of people knowing they like Rimowa and Bang & Olufsen? The only way to show off your Rimowa 'side' of the very premium price is when you get the damn things out then pack them away again. Big deal. What, 30 seconds for each, tops, to show your little case off?
Why not put a ridged aluminium piece into the headband with Rimowa on it? Or have a ridged section on the earpiece with the Rimowa and B&O logo together? B&O... take a hint from the brand 'Supreme' - where everything is double-branded, or at the very least extremely clear who the tie-up is with.
Another case of B&O genuinely wanting to co-brand, but being far too Danish for their own good.
Maybe I'm wrong, and I know nothing. Who knows...
Lee, from what I saw on the B&O website, one ear cup has the traditional B&O logo while the other has some other logo. I presume the other logo is Rimowa?
Here's a link.
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see the other logo.

The logo on the other side of the H9i is indeed from Rimowa. I missed this completely as Rimowa changed their logo last year.
As for the co-branding: I think this is actually a good match, certainly a lot better than the ford thing and the Samsung co-branded phones. Rimowa is almost synonymous with aluminium (even though they have polycarbonate suitcases as well and as far as I know it's actually an alloy of aluminium and magnesium that they use) as is B&O. They both emphasize craftsmanship and as Lee suggested they both have a link with air travel.
Is this worth a premium of € 300? It wouldn't be for me personally, but then again it must be the least expensive Rimowa case.
Vähintään yhdeksänkymmentä prosenttia suomalainen!

I dont normally comment on this kind of stuff, however given their recent results, I would say it is another Project with little money making potential for B&O.
There are some very good Ear Cans out there - especially in the price range indicated and upwards. Why not try and join that market rather than package up some so-so’s in a $300 tin box? B&O have got to get into the substance rather than the superfluous. The market is ripe for selling $1000 to 3000 headphones...so why?
Im doing a lot of reading on 3rd party gear to match-up with the BL90s and there’s tonnes of gear out there......and no longer refrigerator-sized boxes at B&O prices which appear to be flying off the shelves. A lot of it is now smaller than a BSMoment, with connectivity options, galvanic isolation and noiseless power supplies....and if you like iOS/BT controlled and out of sight if required.
B&O have lost the sound/source wars, the control/software wars and as far as I can see...the style wars is not going very well for them either at the mo.
I only wish that they are listening and have a hint on the direction of their business model.

Mikipidia:This product seems very “meh” to me, looks nice but a premium on a premium is a bit much for something that seems less functional/practical. Then again maybe it’s more meant for rimowa lovers than for b&o lovers
Actually, when phones are out , it is multi purpose box. Looks cool as a lunch box.
Meals at economy class flights may be served in the box.Meal done, box is yours,at half price
Limited to 1000 pcs!
Going to be a real collector item I think!

On B&O web it´s says:
"Beoplay H9i is available for purchase in-store and online from 15 April 2019"

It said out of stock on the Rimowa site. Probably the sale hasn't started yet and I wrongly assumed it was already sold out.
I'm much more interested in the forthcoming 'limited edition' bronze H9i.
I wonder why the H8's don't get any B&O love these days? They were removed from the SS19 colour update, aren't part of any bundles, never released as a limited edition pair. I'd prefer an on-ear than over-ear set.

Yes maybe so. BUT the stores that has order them before has them now. And I heard that they almost sold them out already!

1000 units is actually a very small number spread across various retailers around the world. Plus at least 10% will be reserved for promotional activity, press, internal and so on.
Not surprised it's sold out so quickly - loads of people love Rimowa, especially in Germany and China.
Don't worry, Lee - the P2 / Supreme collab gave us a hint or two:.
The new management at B&O have a fetish for exclusitivy - wanting to get rid of the smaller B1's and only have shops next to Louis Vuitton in major cities and fancy neighborhoods. The products formerly know as BeoPlay will gain more exclusivity through staying in focus in social media: new colors twice a year and collabs with trendy brands.
Roger
A positive note, at least to the older gang here at BeoWorld: If you don't buy the fancy H9i's in a fancy alu box and save the money, you may be able to swallow the expected €1.500-2.000 price tag of the new cans coming. They may even be among the best sounding cans in the business, expensive but fairly priced... as with the B&O of old. Sorry for sidetracking
My H9i Rimowa has landed!
And yes...throw *** on me. I dont care;-)

I will never spend that much on headphones but bravo B&O if this is true. Far better to build your brand on £1000's worth of performance than charging £1000 for an aluminium box.
Best in class means something tangible whereas most expensive box absolutely does not.
