hello everyone,
I use my BV7 (mk2) and its loudspeaker 7.2 as my main media center (tv, dvd and cd of course but itunes/spotify music as well through my macbook connected via DVI and 3.5jack)
I would like to buy a turntable and use it with my existing set-up. Is it possible to connect a turntable directly to my BV7 or the 7.2 (as it is active loudspeaker) or does it require a (pre-)amp with a phono socket?

You could use a 5500 amp (with late software) and turnable with a 1611 connector to connect the ML and Aux together and then N-MUSIC (I think) to get the phono on the BV7.

as an alternative, is it possible to connect the turntable to the PC's line in, and use the existing PC connection into the BV ?

If there is no audiomaster in your setup, a Beolink converter 1611 should work - directly connected - on the Masterlink end - wit your BV, and the AUX plug connected to a BG3500, 4500, 6500, 7000. You will need one of these BGs, because they have a built in RIAA preamp.
Should also be possible to control the BG with your Beo remote.
Another solution: audio connection via scart - rca - 7 pi DIN - adapter and assigned as a video source (V.MEM, DVD, DVD2...)
Pressing AV - videosource activates BG port, but you won`t be able to control the record player. ABG with builtin RIAA is also necessary.

And the same constraints if he chooses the Mac route ?
Advantage of the Mac route would be to also start capturing the vinyl as digital media -- I tried it once but gave up as I lacked the patience.

Agree. I have a BS5 and I have my favourite vinyls ripped to wma lossless, as I`m a lucky owner of an Avid Pro Tools HD system...:)

If only manual operation of the turntable is needed, you can connect eg. a "Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Phono USB" DIRECTLY via PHONO/RCA/CINCH to "RED"=right and "WHITE"=left of "Camera In" Alternatively via a SCART camera adaptor "3 x PHONO/RCA/CINCH <> SCART" to a SCART of your TV.

If you choose a turntable without an internal "Phono Preamp", an external "Phono Preamp" like the Project Audio "Phono Box S" is necessary between the record player and the TV.

I don't have any turnable yet, and yes, i was thinking of a Pro-Ject (because of the pure design... ?)
I understand from all of you that an amp is necessary even if the loudspeaker is active.
So can I imagine a ProJect Debut turntable connected to a phono box then connected via aux-in to the PC line-in ?
