Hello all
I am really glad to have the opportunity to greet everyone in this forum.)
I have Beosound 9000 Mk3 in really good condition , but with one probem. Sometimes after starting CD playing , the cd mechanism spin compact disc counterclockwise , then stoped and show "PAUSE" on display.
Why it spin cd in the opposite direction compared to the usual playback ? Maybe it is related to automatic disc positioning?
Beosound 9000 + Beolab 8000, Beosound Century, Beocenter 2500 + Beolab 2500, Beosound 6, Beoplay H6, Beoplay H6 (2-го поколения), Beoplay H8, Beoplay H9, Beoplay E8
Hi, according to my experience spinning in opposite direction is not an issue, however i am not sure that the disc must not spin there. More problem is with PAUSE - I would try to clean laser lens. Some experts say "with 30% alkohol and one drop of washing liquid". To get to the lens - try run TM 65.
Just press go on the remote. Don’t try cleaning the laser lens as you can really mess it up. If anything, clean the disk.
Difficult to be 100% sure without seeing it but that sounds like to the laser is on the way out and requires replacement. If you go down this route try to get a new and genuine B & O unit, as opposed to a reconditioned one. It's getting difficult to find the genuine parts these days but they're still out there. Good luck.
Hi , Peter
In case of spinning in opposite direction CD getting on PAUSE , if it spinning in correct direction it play correctly , thats why I think it may be an issue.
Anyway thanks for your advice )
Hi David
This may be a problem for me ( I mean laser replace ) , because in my country ( Im from Ukraine ) B&O is really rear )
For example in my city witn more than 3 million people only one B&O dealer
Hi Amigo,
mine BS9000 also sometimes spin in opposite direction but then spins back normal and starts to play. Before cleaning the laser clean the disc or put a disk you're 100% sure is good. Then run TM 71 and 73 and see if it helped. If not you should clean the lens as they should be cleaned from time to time anyway. But TM 71 and 73 are important to know where the problem is.
Hi Peter ,
And how you clean the lens - with cleaning cd or it should be some other way?
Generally on that forum people warn before using a cleaning CD, personally I doubt it would ever run. I was dismantling clamper arm according to service manual in order to get to the lens. Now I see that running TM65 the lens should move far enough that you can just take out cover for CD clamper and lens f/light (9142). You shouldn't clean dry lens so use pure vodka or liquid as described in my previous post. Use q-tip ( ear stick) and then wipe with microfibre. As some liquid may fall into lens wiring, don't start playing immedately after cleaning but let it dry out. After each "maintenance" you should run TM 71 and 73.
Hi Peter
Finally i took the time to experiment with the tests
TM71 - OK71 , TM73 - APS ADJUSTED
Also I conducted a test to determine the operating time of Beosound 9000 in different modes.
Such results - Standby 7944 , Power ON 11, CD 5, AUX 2 - it looks like 9000 most of the time just stood in standby mood and collected dust
Now I need to carry out maximum cleaning 9000 of dust - any ideas what can I do ?
Hi,
generally when you have dust the finger protection system stops operations and "cleaning required" message is being displayed. In your case this probably didn't happen. You may took out all CDs and just clean exterior and interior with damp cloth with some window cleaning liquid. The usage of vacuum cleaner carries the risk of electrostatics so is not recommended.
In my experience, very many symptoms are cured by replacing the laser no matter what the tests show.
Cleaning CD's are at best useless and at worst destructive.
I always used IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to damp an ear bud (Q-tip) for removing dust on the lens, this is possible without dismantling the carriage and may be successful but most times is only a temporary fix.
Regards Graham
Peter , you mean exteroir and interior surface of glass lid or something else ?
joeyboygolf
It seems strange to me that something can happen with the laser , which worked such a little time ?
Can you tell me what procedure of removing dust on tte lens without dismantling the carriage ? It is necessary for this to remove the glass lid?
Take a cotton bud and just get underneath the sledge from the right. You can see where the lens is. But be careful not to move the lens out of position. Just gently touch it with a slightly damp bud.
Cheers
Amigo,
I meant glass lid + aluminium panel + space under disks, all what is possible to be cleaned without dismantling.
Generally we're speaking about 2 things:
one: removing a dust from BS9000 whereever it is
two: cleaning the laser lens from a dirt not just dust. There may be a grease in the air for example which sticks to the lens. Therefore 30% alcohol + a drop of washing liquid. When you run TM 65 as described previously, you may see the lens, otherwise you do it "blind' but may try.
