Roger: Hello Emil, As you probably know, especially the Danish dealers didn't like the initial idea that Struer came up with as it basically meant that customers could buy the screen elsewhere and that the much loved B&O remote was dropped. There were a lot of feelings around the remote part. I think that the solution for the Harmony will please the dealers, as the iminent soundbar of course will be used with 3. party TV's. Here the remote issue remains, and might be one of the reasons why the March release of the soundbar was dropped? CEC communication opens up a lot of possibilites for B&O, even more so than the previous STB-C and PUC systems could do. Roger

Roger
Hallo Roger,
Yea I could imagine that it is very difficult to come up with the right solution.
The remote for me is best part, and the reason why my girlfriend is actually using the TV and not her laptop.
CEC have never really worked for me, You turn on the tv, and then the PS4 starts because it was turned off like that, and in generel more a hassle then anything. (And I have been through all of it before settle with the Beovision)
Lets hope B&O find a way to keep the remote.

mawheele: Sandyb: There remain doubts over the sustainability of a BV business, much as I'd welcome that they find a way in the video side of things. No. No. No. couldn’t be more wrong! Let’s use the Harmony as a way of drawing a line under these false rumours and observations.

I'd refer you to Roger's response to my further down....

Yea I did not believe this, sad that I was wrong.
I am not looking forward to a future without a Beoremote, after being trough several Televisions and surround receiveres I have not found anything that is half as good as the Eclipse.
Quite....
You can buy a 77 or 88 inch from B&O then, with this lifting mechanism.
But for anything else, you'll have to go elsewhere...
That's a Beovision business much as it always was then?
As to the standalone sound bar and no remote / PUC.......well, I did try and say don't count on it.....
I'll start making the next humble pie.....
Emil, I write this in good faith.
We too are sad that we are essentially in a post BV world, unless you want this offering.
We too enjoy in the same way as you the BR One and all its loveliness.
And remember, many of us too are very enamoured of Scandinavian design.
Where this debate has got off track is that some of our/my critiques and reading of the big picture were a little too defensively dismissed, almost in the way that internet trolls should be. But trolling is from people whose only investment is to cause trouble.
Many of us who have offered critiques have huge amounts invested in B&O equipment - we are invested in every sense, and would love nothing more than B&O to succeed.
Roger: @Sandb: you're fairly spot on, as always. The Eclipse and the Horizon were declared EOL last month (March) and B&O is, sort of, exiting the TV market

Wow. This is big news. Eclipse is EOL?
The Harmony is just way too expensive and unnecessary for me. The speaker movement wouldn't impress many people I know under 50 and definitely wouldn't impress anyone once I mention how much I paid for the TV set. You aren't even really hiding the TV either.
Without being personal, I'd love to see a poll of the age group of the people who like and would buy this new Harmony. It kind of appeals to people who remember B&O from the 70s/early 80s.

Yes I hope that you are as sad of being right as I am of being wrong.
Anyway I have the Eclipse, and in 5 years we might only use AR headsets
Roger: @Sandb: you're fairly spot on, as always. The Eclipse and the Horizon were declared EOL last month (March) and B&O is, sort of, exiting the TV market: This is a lift and a speaker system for the 77" and 88" LG TV's. As B&O "lost" control of the totality, mounting options had to be limited to a controlled lift environment: wall mounting or turning a 3. party screen is difficult from an HSE point in todays world (liability). At the first presentation B&O hadn't even decided if the LG TV should be supplied by the dealer or by another party (Dixons a.o.). Roger

Thanks Roger, and for the informative response.
While some will mourn this, a B&O sound bar allied to a 3rd party TV is not necessarily a bad outcome.
I posed this question on the forum a few months back - and while some would obviously prefer further BV's, a good amount of responses favoured the B&O sound + 3rd party TV option.
All will depend on execution of the sound bar - from what I understand it is stereo, but am not aware of how it can be integrated into a surround set up, or is indeed NL capable. And yes, the remote / control interface will be interesting.
Interesting times ahead.
yes indeed, its a shame.
The upcoming sound bar will, I think, be possibly more controversial - especially if its doesn't have the scope of the (lets say) Eclipse sound centre....but let's see, and also wait on how they resolve the remote dilemma.
It has the chance of working out quite well for everyone, but let's see the execution.
As for the other video product in the pipeline for this year, I have no idea.
Same here - but unless LG sell you the Wallpaper without their connection box / sound bar unit, how is this possible?
A sound bar is supposed to be coming from B&O - though that may not please everyone either, especially if its more limited in scope than the Eclipse sound centre, and is not Beoreomote controlled (see Roger's post on this thread), nor PUC capable.
It's not a perfect world - the 2 panels I would consider (the Panasonic GZ2000 (Pro panel), and the Wallpaper) come bundled with sound solutions that I don't really want.
Oh for the days of the Pioneer Kuro, which could be bought without speakers!

Dare I say it? The "pipe and slippers brigade."
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

That the W serie have a lousy sound bar attached is so dumb. Who is given that much money, and then settle with sound like that?
If anyone is in the market for a 77" W serie, they should look at the Harmony instead, not much price difference, but IMO you get much much more with the Beovision.
Duels:I’m thinking more the very rich in multi million pound/dollar warehouse style apartments.
Yep, but who has an apartment in 2019 that fits the style which suits the Harmony? Especially a warehouse apartment. It looks clumsy and rather pointless. I could understand if the speaker parts completely hid the panel, so you couldn't see the TV, but they don't?
I'd prefer an Eclipse, tbh.
Like the design, I like the movement of the speakers... But... Too big. That thing is a beast
I do hope that they haven't forgotten that there are customers who would be willing to drop some €€€€'s for a descent 40" (or even 32") TV.
Karel.

Duels: Fair point but are there enough people who do. Talking to a salesman in a department store tv department the other day. I asked what percentage of their TV sales were 55” or above? He said 90%. Then said “perhaps even 95%”.

There's a big difference between a 55" and a 77" :-)
A 55" would just fit in my appartement... But a 77" is just too monstrous...
The B&O page seems to show a wall bracket version!

I’ve just bought a 55 as an upgrade to my previous 40. I thought long and hard about going 65 because movies would look that bit more awesome. But anything bigger than 55 would simply dominate my room TOO much.

Same here. I was hoping for 55 as well.

Both in size and weight. I'll never ever be able to get my BV12-65 off the wall on my own. It required 3 people to install originally. It's huge.
The 65" takes up most of my sitting room wall. No idea how I'd fit a 77" in my apartment (and it's 1500 sq ft).
A glimpse of the wall bracket. Suits this TV better imo
The biggest we could go at home is 65”....so no HaveMoney for us 😁
There is a tv - and there is a BV

I just upgraded from a 65" tv to a 75" tv a week ago. For me, the upgrade was mostly just because the 75" at $1000 was only HALF the price that my 65" was a few years ago. I wouldn't have gone with such a large tv if the price had been much higher.

We wanted electronic curtains, we have wood curtains !
So if Eclipse is EOL (55" on floor stand is max I can fit) I will have to very rapidly decide if I want to par with my BV11-46.
Can't actually believe how close I was... almost laughable.
*Sorry, when you're rendering is that close, you gotta post it again ;-)
Anyway, I'd love to see/hear it in person, but all my dealers are closed
Not sure I'd ever have one, but the experience of it would be nice. I can't tell from the short clips, but is there no electronic curtain?
Those RL-esque grills are spectacular though!
How this reminds me about a classic Beolab/Beovox 5000, my favourite by far over the wooden version. Why not release the design as a stand-alone speaker?- I am in! It would be cool if the part of the display above the speakers could be active when in sound-center mode.
For me this TV is more of a piece of Art where you either love it or hate it.
I'm glad i got my Beovision Eclipse 55 last month after selling my LOEWE BILD 7.. I'l be keeping that TV for a while.
The Beovison Eclipse was my first ever BV TV and i personally love it. The BV Harmony looks like a "TV concept of the future" product designed in the 70s /80s at an expensive price point. The movement of the panels shoould have just move DONWARDS like the LOEWE BILD 7, now that was classy.
I have a set of Beolab 50s, two pairs of 18s and a host of other B&O speakers so the budget is not the issue here. The movement of the panels shoould have just move DONWARDS like the LOEWE BILD 7, now that was classy AND it had the black curtains in software.
Also No one seems to be mentioning that fact the Harmony has LOST the motorised stand to rotate the TV in different positions. I suppose at 77 inch that would be impossible/impractical. The two tiered wood colour is ok but i would prefer a single tone like all maple, all oak or all smoked oak The two tone grey fabric is terrible take away from the contrast of the wood.
If B&O does release are centre speaker with less capabilities that the eclipse that will be funny.
At this point the future for me once my eclipse packs or i decide to upgrade is a non B&O TV with a soundbard will not match from an aesthetic point of view. The prospect of no beoremote is not great, i never got why people loved it so much until i got the eclsipse. To me me the future post Eclipse would be the LG rollable TV with a B&O soundba - Now that is impressive and moderrn.
Allot of people slated the Eclipse including myself until i got one, now I magine there will be a rush of people trying to get the eclipse before they run out of stock. Especially as theres no 55 inch version of any B&O TV left in the catalogue assuming the Eclipse /Horizon are EOL.
i always thougt i was late to the B&O party with my first BV being the Eclipse but it seems i got in at the optimum time.
Beovision Eclipse 55 Brass Edition with Oak covers and Brass Orbital stand
Beolab 50s silver & Oak, Beolab 18 Brass with Smoked Oak, Beolab 18 Rose Gold with Maple Covers, Beolab 19 Black.
77 inch and its 18500 euro
Millemissen: The biggest we could go at home is 65”....so no HaveMoney for us 😁
Wait for the Beosystem 5 / centre channel product - end of the year / beginning of next.
Is what many have asked for I guess.
The B&O sound bar is supposed to be fairly limited in its scope - look at the price Roger posted earlier - and from my understanding, a simple stereo only product, not designed to be integrated into a broader B&O ecosystem (it won't see your other BL speakers).
The equivalent of a Beosystem 5 / Centre channel (i.e. a much more fully rounded product) - in the works, but not until end of year / early next.
Depending on its execution, that later product should please a bunch of people.
There are reasons to believe it will play nice more easily with LG tv's compared to other brands, but that will become clearer over time.
May not be a bad outcome at all.
Earle:Can't actually believe how close I was... almost laughable. *Sorry, when you're rendering is that close, you gotta post it again ;-)
now young man, dont give up in the quest to go ever larger!
As a fellow BV12 owner, I've done the measurements of a 77 OLED (ok, Wallpaper version, but still) vs the 12-65.
It's not noticeably taller really - it is more obviously wider though.
But all told, its not night and day on my wall.
So a C9 77 is do-able.
Not the Harmony though, that's a true monster...
ari: A glimpse of the wall bracket. Suits this TV better imo
Looks like a foldable dinning table to me
matador43:Looks like a foldable dinning table to me
i like it! the harmony looks like a B&O tv. no other brand could make this design.
yes, it looks like a pair of beolab 5000 hooked on, but that is not a bad thing. classic B&O!
