Or maybe no-one else is bonkers enough to bother (and to promote for €18K) at a time when dealers need products they can sell in their stores to your average end user.
I honestly cannot understand why people think awkward-looking speaker mechanism sat on top of a standard LG TV makes for a stunning design. Even if I liked it - which I don't - I'd be bored after watching it open up/close, after 3 or 4 times.
Sandyb:The B&O sound bar is supposed to be fairly limited in its scope - look at the price Roger posted earlier - and from my understanding, a simple stereo only product, not designed to be integrated into a broader B&O ecosystem (it won't see your other BL speakers). The equivalent of a Beosystem 5 / Centre channel (i.e. a much more fully rounded product) - in the works, but not until end of year / early next. Depending on its execution, that later product should please a bunch of people. There are reasons to believe it will play nice more easily with LG tv's compared to other brands, but that will become clearer over time. May not be a bad outcome at all.

I'll be quite happy with my current dual-HDMI with BeoSystem 4 solution to wait a year then. I just hope that B&O sees that it's time to support Dolby Atmos -- which the Harmony still does not. With the prevalence of Atmos content now (we see it everywhere: UHD, Apple TV iTunes movies, Netflix, etc.), it's hard not to notice that B&O leaves users without a key feature in terms of sound.
Sandyb: now young man, dont give up in the quest to go ever larger! As a fellow BV12 owner, I've done the measurements of a 77 OLED (ok, Wallpaper version, but still) vs the 12-65. It's not noticeably taller really - it is more obviously wider though. But all told, its not night and day on my wall. So a C9 77 is do-able. Not the Harmony though, that's a true monster...

Same here, I measured, and if/when my 65 inch Panasonic VT dies, I can easily go to a 77 inch. With an 85 inch, I'd have to mount it too high considering the cabinets I have under it. The center of the screen would be too high, I'd have to look up to it, not a good thing for long viewing if you want to avoid a crick in your neck. And even something like the Eclipse wouldn't fit without a lot of rearranging that would destroy the look I worked on, doubly or triply so for this monster.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Fair point - I hadn't thought much about Atmos.
Agree that there's a decent amount of content now, though I'm not too bothered by it.
5.1 with my Beolabs is plenty fab as it is, but I can see why others may want Atmos.
My Dealer told me the 77" Version is just the first Product, a 65" Beovision Harmony will follow ...
I hope so ...

moxxey: kuyttendaele: There's a big difference between a 55" and a 77" :-) Both in size and weight. I'll never ever be able to get my BV12-65 off the wall on my own. It required 3 people to install originally. It's huge. The 65" takes up most of my sitting room wall. No idea how I'd fit a 77" in my apartment (and it's 1500 sq ft).

Interesting, is the BL12 that much heavier than the Panasonic version. I managed to get mine on the way with just my wife's help, which is to say not much help. As for weight, they seem to get lighter all the time, my 65 weighs just a bit more than my old 42 inch. My old Proton 31 inch tube set weighed 272 lbs!
The Beovision Harmony is added to the B&O AR app. It's available in two version: Floor and wall mount.
The wall mount is motorized in the same way as the floor stand, i.e. it moves up and the speakers fold out.
Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

This is beautiful.
A lot have been complaining that B&O have lost the magical movement. I honestly think David Lewis would be proud of this. He spoke in an interview of what could feasibly be done once panels got very thin and I think we have the answer here. He would have grappled with this problem The movement is sci-fi and alien and unearthly - I’ve shown this video to non-B&O friends and they think it looks stunning and mesmerising.
Some have that it doesn’t cover the whole screen. I don’t think that needs pointing out at all and this was clearly a deliberate industrial design choice. They didn’t want it to cover the whole screen. It’s almost an illusory effect. ‘It looks like a TV possibly but doesn’t really....gosh what on earth is it???’ Very clever strategy.
Some have complained that the movement is too slow. You don’t buy a Rolls Royce for its breakneck acceleration. The doors close at a slow speed and even slower in the final 1-2cm. The Rolls Royce takes its time and won’t be rushed. It’s designed to lower you blood pressure and bring Zen to the manic hectic stupidity of modern life that is physiologically unbearable. When I come home, I want B&O movement and Scandinavian design to draw me in and slow my brain, heart and put the brakes on any active ADHD. The slower the movement and the slower the curtains the better. It slows your cognition into a lower gear. Japanese tea ceremony of TVs!
The choice of materials and the effect is exquisite - if I had this sort of money and a room big enough, I would pull the trigger!
Somebody has said that a smaller version is also in the pipeline so that is the one I will go for. 77” is too big for us.
The sound bar will be phenomenal if Geoff Martin is behind the acoustic engineering.
Now I hold my breath with a reservation. Will the software sorted and bugs ironed out before it hits the market??
Bloody well done B&O.
Congratulations.

The black frets looks amazing. 10/10 for me over the wood.
But still I think you will call your dealer after a week to enter service menu to disconnect the damn slow movement !

Seethroughyou seems to really like it!
(edit : not quite as funny now that the other 3 duplicate posts have been deleted)
Ban boring signatures!
It will be interesting to see how rigid it is - i.e., if dog/child/football hits the speakers in the docked position can they thud into the screen?
didn't come across that way to me.
Funny that.
I like the new TV and the folding mechanism even if it honestly lacks sense behind the cool mechanics.
I don't like the ugly wool cover (I don't like it on neither B&O speaker like M3, A6, M5...) this wool stuff looks more like IKEA than B&O. Let's hope they're working on a real aluminium cover, too. That would look much more like a real B&O thing.Reminds me of an old Sony TV TAV-L1 which could hide the complete screen behind its moving speaker. It included a CD-Player etc, sound system, hidden touch controls in nice B&O red/orange style and had a display inside the speaker grill for usage as a pure music system:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiqtOQXFfug

Mikipidia:We still need to know how the b&o bit is attached to the lg bit. Is it via wisa? Or is it wired? Do we connect external boxes to the lg bit or the b&o bit? And if so, where and how?
And how the Centre speaker functionality is implemented since it cannot possibly be,- in the center?
BEOVOX141:And how the Centre speaker functionality is implemented since it cannot possibly be,- in the center?
There is a gap in the center...
And yes you can emulate,- but it will never be as good as a single point!
Love it!
Finally a TV at the level of beolabs 50's or 90'sGreat if you can afford those, you really should consider this tv as well.
Needless to say... I just do not have the budget to buy one of these....
I want to dare B&O to make a functional sound bar at a reasonable price just for the audio part to fit with any existing off the shelf tv panel for all of us who just can NOT fork out $20K for a tv.... It would be the first B&O piece I would buy new right away in now 10 years.
Besides that, It's a piece of art on the wall when 'closed' and will give you joy each time you switch the tv on or off .. Well done B&O!
I love it :-)
Like Cooldude, i would love an Harmony sound system, without the TV part :-)
I believe it will have a separate price, around 9k.
Theoretically it can be used with other panels.
Whether dealers actually offer this pro-actively is a different thing.
Some non-promo photos and a few additional details: https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-harmony
Including:
"AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Bluetooth connectivity are all included, and a portion of the dormant screen’s display will be dedicated to track metadata – unique to the Bang & Olufsen build of LG’s panel. "
Sandyb: I believe it will have a separate price, around 9k. Theoretically it can be used with other panels. Whether dealers actually offer this pro-actively is a different thing.
Isn’t that the old Eclipse discussion once again - why should it be differentvthis time?
« a portion of the dormant screen’s display will be dedicated to track metadata – unique to the Bang & Olufsen build of LG’s panel. »
Can someone confirm this ?
Steph: « a portion of the dormant screen’s display will be dedicated to track metadata – unique to the Bang & Olufsen build of LG’s panel. » Can someone confirm this ?
That is a quote from the just linked article.
Of course it needs confirmation - will be interesting to see that in action....if so.
BEOVOX141: There is a gap in the center... And yes you can emulate,- but it will never be as good as a single point!
It is a 3.0 system - just like previous BeoVisions.
And just like with these these the three channels can be added to one center channel, I’d assume.
There would be no point in building-in a ‘single point’ center speaker there.....this would force people to but front L/R speakers (like in the old days).
At first I thought the Hamony was too indulgent & ridiculous now I want one. Dammit B&O! . I thought the 50s were nuts then I ended up lusting over them then buying them 12 months later
They have a new Bronze Eclipse,50s & 18s which are stunning. This throws the whole EOL eclipse range in question as that is being released in April and would be surprised if they just release it for 6 months. Also what option do they have for 55 or 65 inch customers until the Harmony comes in theose sizes?
My dealer told me they are keeping the eclipse until further notice but some say its EOL so its not clear to me.

It may not be that different in the end I agree.
But the Eclipse discussion had no logic to it, nor did any dealer ever mention it to me as an option.
This time I think the non-Tv part will have a discrete list price, and there's a reason for that (I've been told the separate price)
From what I understand, the new EU energy efficiency directive encompasses standards that make selling a single unit such as the Eclipse, with a massive power output and a big panel, tough to comply. I think this is an issue for all TV brands, not just B&O, but it is B&O that are the ones that tend to strap on a 400W speaker to a TV and sell it as one.
As such, the Harmony may well be sold as package (speakers and lifting mechanism + TV), but actually be listed as 2 separate parts. Whether customers will be actually be able to buy the speaker/lifting mechanism alone I don't know - depends on how it all fits together I guess.
The dealers may well be happy to sell the non-TV part - if they are going to be selling standalone LG tv's anyway, what difference does it make to them? But that's a corporate decision I guess, so I dont know.
Anyway, that's the reason why there is a difference to the Eclipse non-situation I think.
Bit speculative I concede, but as we've seen, not all speculation is idle or misguided.
Nice... but can it crack a wallnut? Somebody needs to buy one so we can find out.
The Eclipse is EOL, see Roger's posts earlier, and ask your dealer if he is up to date.
Being EOL doesn't mean they stop selling it right away - it will probably hang around for another 6 months I would guess.

I like it.
I like that it was launched at Milan design week.
I do agree it is a little 70's but i think it was purposely designed like that. If it was totally 70s the speakers would have covered the whole screen. Obviously people in a certain age bracket will like it, and not like it - i think the younger generation will continue to use their phones anyway.
But for people that have purchased the BL90s and BL50s, this is the TV for them. Especially if it can be operated as a sound system with no screen on. A few people have requested / discussed that B&O should launch a sound system where they can use it with 50/90.
I wait in anticipation for the released specs, let's see what they reveal.
