steve1977:I didn’t see this coming. That’s quite a tv at 77”... Anyone knows what OS this is running? While folks on this forum don’t seem to like it, android tv seems to be established as standard. Can the speaker be used speaker-only in “closed” position. i’m still dreaming of a hybrid tv that works as audio speaker and then turns into a tv. Did B&O make this happen or do i need to look at a 77” black screen when listening to music?

Aussie Michael: I like it. I like that it was launched at Milan design week. I do agree it is a little 70's but i think it was purposely designed like that. If it was totally 70s the speakers would have covered the whole screen. Obviously people in a certain age bracket will like it, and not like it - i think the younger generation will continue to use their phones anyway. But for people that have purchased the BL90s and BL50s, this is the TV for them. Especially if it can be operated as a sound system with no screen on. A few people have requested / discussed that B&O should launch a sound system where they can use it with 50/90. I wait in anticipation for the released specs, let's see what they reveal.

Exactly.it will perfectly suit BL 90/50 owners, and look great combo.Probably the best money can buy.And I do not see Harmony matching any other b&o speakers. On the other hand, how many middle class can go full monty?

I like the design from the front but, if you look at the techradar article, the back is a monstrosity. The mounting stand mechanism is super thick and literally just hacked onto a C9. It would of at least been nice if they had taken the Eclipse approach and gone for more of a consistent look at the back.
Given the recent company troubles, I really dont see the logic in releasing anything over 65" as its quite clear that the super high end market strategy is not working for them.
Generally speaking though, I hope they release more than a standard soundbar in the coming months and more an integration hub but lets see.
Millemissen:It is a 3.0 system - just like previous BeoVisions.
Remind me, which ones? Apart from your Avant, I would argue they were 2.0.
Edit: Beovision 9 did have a centre.
andy_js:Nice... but can it crack a wallnut? Somebody needs to buy one so we can find out.

Same es the Eclipse,
3.0 system,
If you use the AR app, you can see the TV without fret.
And yes the center is not completely center off cause.

That is what happens, when you don’t see the Eclipse as a BeoVision!
3.0 is definitely the way to go for a tv speaker - and the option to turn this into a center speaker, when connecting further multichannel speakers is mandatory.....imo.
The previous (audio processing) system could not do that and needed a dedicated center speaker (and added costs for L/R speakers to the package) - the current can.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
AdamS: I'll reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh but it looks clumsy in the pictures, and I can't help feeling the speaker movement is just design for design's sake. I suspect David Lewis would not have approved...

I've just watched the video of it in operation and I can feel myself thawing towards it already - I hate myself!!
Interestingly Mrs. S likes it in its 'operating' position, but thinks it looks daft in its standby mode.

Here we go again, You cannot substitute a dedicated centre speaker no matter how much DSP power you throw at it. It is down to physics.
Will they be releasing this in a 55 inch version and when will this be? I take it the orbital rotation is gone?
Having now looked at the TV again, the back does look like allot is going on and probaby looks better wall mounted so addting a motorised stand would have made it unweidly.

Is that the Beosysstem 5 hiding in the back?
Maybe it’s a giant iPod touch in the hiding

seethroughyou:and has the B&O magic
I'd like to ask a genuine question.
To me and my little knowledge of the brand, each B&O "magic" movement was a match between what I would call "poetry" and purpose:-The magic doors protect the tape heads from dust,-The video curtains are used to adjust the TV to the lighting environment,-Some other doors (beosound 4 or beocenter 2, Beovision Avant…) serves to hide not-so-beautiful parts.
I dont see the purpose of these speakers movements, appart from being the source of future problems (mechanicals, screen dents). It seem just like a gadget.

The speakers are covering part of the screen when it is off so that one does't have a huge black rectangle showing all the time. So it kind of hides the screen making it a bit more aesthetically please to the eye...that is basically the purpose of the the moving speakers
Just saw it in the flesh in Milano, it’s a marvel in « magical motion ».
people here are speaking about 18k€.
i think the wooden finish is a bit too much while TV on but there were no other finish in display.

It at least, to me, has more "B&O" about it than the Eclipse, even if I think the movement is just for the sake of saying something moves, form without function unlike most of the earlier moving parts in B&O gear. I seriously question the corporate wisdom of going that far upmarket in price.
One issue I see is that good god, that thing is thick, it will stick out from the wall a lot on a wall mount, completely the opposite style direction to the LG wallpaper TV.
If it has stereo speakers, converting them to use as a center has issues. Using two speakers for a center (or three) will create comb filtering issues for off axis listeners. May not be the end of the world but not optimal either.
I guess time will tell if its B&O's salvation or another abortive design.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
BenSA:The speakers are covering part of the screen when it is off so that one does't have a huge black rectangle showing all the time.
Then I think the solution as more cons than pros: as someone else pointed out, accidentally hitting the speakers could dent the screen, also dust may depose on the screen part which were not protected by the speakers and its also useless additional engineering and mechanics which come for a cost and future problems just for "the movement" sake.
All this for something which when in standby is still a weird object half hidden, half shown. The BV14 with wooden grill is a beautiful object as it own. The eclipse aesthetics may be questionnable but it's still an impressive TV. That one? Why the hell are you hanging duckboards to your Samsung TV, to dry them?

Absolutely what i was trying to say, thank you!

I read one 'review' of the launch in Milan where they point out the TV is $20K and the LG panel can be bought for $6K, so effectively they've added $14K on top of the retail/street panel.
I do agree it suits the BL50 or BL90 purchaser. Same kind of style. As long as someone can accomodate a 77" screen (like I say, my BV12-65 takes up almost one side of my sitting room wall), then it's ideal. But, won't be their 'salvation' in terms of retail. How many of these TVs are your average high street dealer going to sell in towns such as Colchester, Cheltenham and so on - most UK homes are relatively small.

Noted this in the article from Techradar
"...and a portion of the dormant screen’s display will be dedicated to track metadata – unique to the Bang & Olufsen build of LG’s panel."
If that is correct its neat and makes more sense of the screen that still is visible,

Some more info from a setup video:
* The panel is attached to the Harmony through a regular VESA-mount. Cables can be hidden behind a panel (large enough to fit a power strip in it), but the rear is clearly not meant to be seen. I'll post some pictures soon.
* The BeoRemote One connection is very interesting: you pair the remote to the Sound Center, then download an app in the LG App Store, and voila: the connection is settled. This B&O/LG-app must control the metadata as well.
Hopefully this approach will also find its way to the new soundbar! Using BeoRemote + the Beo Sound Center/NL with an LG-panel of choice would be +++
Michael:Am I the only one who is like, wtf launching in October? It’s beginning of April now.. how can it take so long? The TV is already on the market, they only have to focus on the speakers - which apparently is already done too as they have many working examples..

Aaahhh… You know… New product excitement…
The pics:

I think it looks beautiful, but the thickness is a worry, and could make it look very heavy on a wall...
No Atmos too.... B&O should really focus on giving us exceptional audio experiences
Michael: 1990: The pics: Speaker setup seem pretty weak. Is that a BeoSystem 4 used (prototyping?) or is it a new beosystem 5? It’s no beocenter.

What does it matter how we call it - as long as it does, what it is supposed to do for that product.
Agree - it might even be a pre-prototype system. Plenty of time for modifications and changes untill launch.
What (to me) is interesting, is that one of the pics seem to show several PowerLink connections.
So there will not just be WiSA/WPL connections.
In some reports only WiSA for 8 speakers was mentioned - and nowhere the TrueImage processing was mentioned.

Thanks for informing.
Any chance that you could provide a link, a source for these informations?
Is there more....?
You cannot buy the C9 yet,
Also properly the new software needs work, I guess they havn't had webos 4,5 for long in their hands. as LG need to provide it.
And last, I hope that they will have HDMI 2.1 which also drag things out.

Well, I hope THIS is not the audio part that costs 20k EUR? I mean, what, Horizon has more speakers than this?
„...of the whole thing...“
Ref my earlier comments regarding stereo separation - when closed the "L&R" drivers are going to be next to each other!
I hope when MM finally listens to it he can assure us that it doesn't really make a difference!
Ban boring signatures!
