Been playing with the Moment and slowly getting drawn to it. Have the software problems been ironed out?
Is this a sensible buy as EOL?
Is Deezer still working with it?
Has anyone tried the STB CD player you can buy for it?
.
Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
Its been fine pretty much since the big software re work a year or 2 back.
There's a reason the forums have quiet w.r.to the Moment these last 18 months or so..
I believe it does yes handle Deezer Hifi - other Moment users seem to without issue.
I don't have the STB CD player I'm afraid.
If you do think about getting one, message me if you like - I may let mine go for something appropriate, its pretty mint etc.
Turned into a vinyl junkie for my sins!

I got my first one about a month after they went EOL and picked up a second one about 4 months ago, so I guess I'm happy so long as the price is right. (Both where purchased used.)
I find the Moment to be stunningly beautiful, and that's the prime reason I have it. The interface is honestly not any easier to use than the app on an iPad, perhaps a little worse, but is visually very pleasing. I do like that I don't need to unlock the iPad then select the B&O app, and wait for it to open before controlling my devices. I don't like that the battery life is insanely short when undocked. I also don't like that I worry about damaging the controller when I have it undocked. (I don't get the feeling that it is extremely fragile, but I also doubt it has the durability of an iPhone/iPad.)
Deezer works great, and without that I would find the device far less useful: the Moodwheel really depends on Deezer to be useful, as it finds music on Deezer similar to music in your own collection.
I *REALLY* wish I could control it (and my Beosound Essences) through Google Assistant. So much so that I'm considering trying to reverse-engineer the control protocols and build my own interface. I think the lack of voice control is my only real complaint, and that's certainly not fair for a product developed before anything was voice controlled.
Like I said, I bought a second one recently so I guess it is fair to I'd say I recommend it. Get one at the right price and it should keep you happy as long as B&O keeps Deezer working on it.

seethroughyou:Can you connect it to a hard drive rather than a NAS?
seethroughyou:How long is the battery life on average?
Thre is nowhere to plug in a hard drive, you need a DNLA server which can run on a NAS, on a PC, or on a dedicated DNLA server. I wanted low power consumption when IDLE so I got a Raspberry Pi 3 and installed Twonky Server, following instructions I found here on BeoWorld. Standby power consumption is therefore just a few Watts. If you are comfortable with Raspbian or Linux it is pretty straightforward. If not, the extra cost of the NAS is probably a reasonable investment.
That said, Deezer has a very wide collection of music, and I ran my first Moment for more than a year with just Deezer and TuneIn Radio before I got my DNLA Server up and running.
Fansastic:Use it hard wired though, where the Wifi is not that stable and you might experience drop outs.

steve1977:How do you make us of the sensing line-in? With the B&O app having matured a bit, where do you see the advantage of a moment over an ipad with b&o app? This would give me spotify and i don’t need it he huge (ugly) charging station. Only advantage i can think of is the moods wheel, which seems quite cool. Was always hoping b&o may bring this to the app as well.

seethroughyou:You can’t play music from the app on an iPad. You need a streaming device of some kind. Unless you know of another way please?

Just press the start button on my BG6500, the Moments starts up and it plays the records I, and my daughters recently, bought.
From there the system starts up without the need to use an app.
Having a dedicated tablet (Moment) everyone can use in the house.
I could replace the Moment by a Core (which I have), that would some extra features, but I like the Moment being present as a soundsystem.
seethroughyou:I suppose the lack of digital out is a hurdle but presumably I can WISA from Moment to BL90?
There was a discussion regarding the sound quality on the Moment-thread that is worth considering since you have the BL90's. It all started with John from B&O Manchester (see his youtube channel), who was baffled by the improvement in sound quality when he removed the Moment in the shop and replaced it with the Core.
I love the look and user experience of my Moment, but must admit that I'm considering the Core just for the improved sound quality.
B&O will shortly release a new remote with a display that will make replacing the Moment easier: think of the Essence remote and add display, sort of a round remote thing. It will retail for approx €750, and if you add the cost of the Core you are perhaps paying more than you would for a 2nd hand Moment.

Cool! It was a long time since a new remote was launched. Think it makes sense with a screen, since all current products lack information on what is playing. My wife hates flipping between channels on eg M5, BS1 and our other units with no information on what is playing.
Its not always convenient to grab the phone and use the app.

This really baffles me! Why should there be any noticeable difference in sound quality from any top of the range B&O sound source (as opposed to speakers)?
Graham
Have a look at this and skip to approx 4 minutes. Did an A-B test myself, quite surprised I must admit. Will try to find the reply to this issue that I received from Struer.
@vikinger - this is what I got from the man himself back when the issue was adressed:
Subject:Moment vs Core on Sound quality
I've just asked about this and was told that since the comparison was done using BeoLab 3 the connection was via PowerLink (where the Moment outperforms the Core) so the comparison in the video was likely using Deezer HiFi on the Core and normal Deezer on the Moment. Before upgrading to the BeoLab 50 you should audition using optical connection from the Core, and PL connection from the Moment, and see what you prefer as a total package.
seethroughyou:I would have thought it would be a level playing field between the digital out of the Core versus digital over WISA between Moment and a Beolab. Why would there be a difference if exactly the same track at the same bit depth and sampling rate were fed to the same Beolab...?
Why would there be a difference if exactly the same track at the same bit depth and sampling rate were fed to the same Beolab...?
If I'm reading all this correctly, I believe there are known sound differences between the Core and Moment's PowerLink. That is, the Moment has superior PL output to the Core, and this is what John from Manchester heard on the video.
Does anyone know how to connect the Beosound Moment to a BL90?
The Moment has two powerlinks coming out but the BL90 has only one Powerlink in....
seethroughyou:Managed to find a brand new in box Moment for €1600. Is this a sensible price? If I remember correctly, when you bought a new Moment you also got 1 year free membership to Deezer. How would this work now? After all the complaints about the BeoApp, the Moment’s software seems to have matured and perfected now....
