Remit to our paint shop guy..
"Utilise all of the colours in our office and do something different..."
Didn't he just!
It's currently booming away, resplendent in it's techno-zebra colour scheme!
They are red, they are white, They are Danish Dynamite
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
My M70s will be jealous.
A very base ic colour
Nice job Lee 😄
It´s a lifestyle.
JC:
I fully acknowledge your opinion, and for what it's worth I wouldn't have it in my own lounge at home if you paid me..
However, it's more of a 'conversation piece' in our newly refurbished office, which is all 'Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Lounge' inspired Purples, Lilac and neutral stone/cream colours. We did have all magnolia, browns and taupes when we opened 4 years ago which was 'cutting edge' at the time, but it started to look a bit dated - then strong, bold colours have become the order of the day.
I spend at least 9 hours a day in the office, so I regard it as a very important place to enjoy being. We have a BV7-32 on the wall, four BeoLab 3's, a BeoLab 2 and a BeoSound 9000 for company, which all provide some lovely sound when the phones stop ringing and we can put some decent music on!
We're currently thinking of doing our BeoSound 9000 with a clear glass and a Purple aluminium section too.
For the record, has anyone seen the white BeoLab 8000's we did? They look superb, but nobody has so much as commented on them! I loved them so much I nearly took them home !! Clearly, nobody likes white 8000's - and I really thought we were doing something pretty funky...
... and from the front. Maybe the pictures don't do them justice?
black and white - the colours of the (footballing) gods! They look stunning and would fit in my ideal living space perfectly! Unfortunately there are women in the world and so they dont fit into many female friendly living spaces. Just goes to prove that women know squat about taste and style, whatever they'd have you believe!
(I retain the right to disown and deny this post's actual existence).
Ban boring signatures!
9 LEE:... and from the front. Maybe the pictures don't do them justice?
Might be one of those "you had to be there" things
Those would work great in suitable decor, but from the photos alone, they appear to be made of plastic. All of us here know otherwise and can just gawk at the unusual colour, but an uneducated bypasser might fail to be impressed.
Might just be my personal mental taboo with the Beolab 8000 tube - to me, the tube has to be aluminum and the base black. The fret is free game though... The alu/black combo has the nice property that it goes with anything, but once you change or add any single colour, it gets limited.
I actually have two pairs of 8000s, and the other one is in permaloan at the FS's place. Mine are a bit ragged, and I was planning to get a pair of new frets... the whites wouldn't fit here, but since I like them otherwise, I asked her if she'd consider them. The answer was no, they must be black!

Only joking fella
JC: Only joking fella
I'm not !!
Seriously, I wouldn't have that BeoLab 2 in my home at all - but in the office it looks funky as you like..
I've got a pair of BeoLab 8000 cases which are all ready to be sprayed... and the paint shop guy asked me today "what's it to be?"
I said I'd get back to him - so they're sat there in etch primer at the moment.
Any suggestions? The frets will be black...

can't have pink with black frets or can you ? http://www.thomaspink.com
Paint them so they look like giant pencils - With eraser and everything!
- Dennis
Pink....
Would anyone actually buy these?
Shamelessly, and from a business perspective, which isn't quite in the ethos of this post as it's meant to be just a jovial laugh at my BeoLab 2, but nevertheless, I'd like to be able to sell these BeoLab 8000's after i've changed the colour....
Pink might... ummm... make them "hang around a bit" so to speak.

It's actually quite funny, when you read the ads from people selling those on e-bay etc. I guess half of the sellers call the speakers 'pencils' - and the other half call them 'pipes' - or 'organ pipes' (which was actually Mr. Lewis' inspiration when he designed those).
But - to get back on topic...If you must paint them, I would suggest a 'charcoal-grey'...
That's actually a great idea.. but it would only really work if you looked at them from the rear.
Charcoal Grey... I like that. Good suggestion.
Hay Lee,
the 8000's look great in white I love them.
little odd that the timeless 8000 design is gone that were all used too but I like them

Or Dazzle camouflage.
How about Matte black?

The white 8000s looks pretty cool, I bet they look 10000 times better IRL, things often do.
Why dont you make the other 8000 in copper, that would be awesome! And I really do think thet people will buy that as an opposite to pink..
Jonathan: How about Matte black?
Stealth speakers!!!!

Lee, you are very lucky to have complete control of your workspace. In my career I gradually moved up to an individual office over which I had complete control, but with subsequent business owner changes etc high density open plan for everyone became the thing, meaning that you ultimately got a desk in a cubicle where you could plug your laptop in! All creative thinking was thus destroyed.

When I saw a pair of these speakers lying face down in the local dealership those rockets favoured by many in the Middle East for some reason sprang to mind. The speakers would probably be cheaper and more efective at getting messages between opposing sides!
Hi Lee
Your post popped up when I searched white Beolab 8000s/8002s. I was wondering if you ever have a white pair for sale?
If you do, let me know as I have client who would be interested.
Many thanks & Stay well,
Harry
I closed the business over two years ago Harry! I don't really get involved in customising now as it's quite expensive and I don't have the cashflow to do it.
I bought a pair of white 8000s off ebay from a young (compared to me) guy in Lancashire, who told me they were a special factory supplied order that he'd requested, to match his Lamborghini.... His house was the most amazing home I've ever set foot in... I suspected he might have been BS-ing me when I discovered one of your small yellow stickers that you used to put on your stock, Lee!
My wife loved them and I liked them a lot, (especially when I got a Beolab 2 and then 11 to go with them) however they went in order to finance a pair of 9s. No comparison!
Cheers
Nigel
Don't care too much for the BL2 paint job, but the BL8000 in white are just FAB!
Wishing they were mine !
Wonder what they would look like with a light wood BL18 style frets on them ...
