Just wanted to share this with you;
A pair of Beovox C75 came in here for refoaming. That's not all that uncommon.The owner did a refoam attempt himself. That's not all that uncommon either.- But not always good news, I mean, there must be a reason for him to send the speakersafter he tried himself..Anyway, this owner did not buy new foam surrounds, instead he tried his luck with cut piecesof what looks to be a kitchen towel and some kind of glue that sets solid as a rock.The cone is frozen solid but at least he managed to close the gaping hole left by the old surround.
I didn't ask him if he shim'ed...

How are you going to fix this one Martin, will you try to save the cone, or just put in a new cone without attempt to save.
Are the voice coils OK ??
Luckily, the owner only "did" one woofer.The voice coil measures fine. This is one of the rarer S80236 drivers, found in some series of Beovox C75.Not identical to the CX50/100 ones and I will see if I can rescue it. Replacements are not exactly plentyful.The similar one in the other cabinet is still fine (well actually it has a bad surround of course, but fixable).The two lower drivers are of the rubber surround type and both fine.
