I should have kept my old one - all these had been replaced - somewhere I think I still have a carrier bag with them in! I feel very guilty for making you work so hard - I thought there was just a faulty relay!

joeyboygolf: From a purely selfish point of view, I really enjoy reading about Craig's projects and was afraid that he had run out. I am rather pleased that it was not just a faulty relay or I could not enjoy my daily dose of pictures and narrative. What's next Craig?

Everyone knows these projects are a joint effort by all of the members on the site without whose input would not end well, and Peter it may still come down to a faulty relay,,,,I haven't found anything wrong outside of a high emitter current on one side and a suspect ceramic disc cap, the work I choose to do is for my pleasure ;¬)
The right side reservoir caps complete I have started to reassemble that side.....Its always good to see things going back in
The left side reservoir caps went in without any issues....and as I was over there and still had a couple of caps to replace in the output amp I used the slots provided for work on the board just as Martin said....
FM boards next up.....awaiting a 220pF cap for the pre amp, first time I have replaced one of those.
And...as the great man said, this board can also be worked on in-situ
However as I have everything on this side dismantled it made sense just to take it out
chewed up capacitor arrived and is now installed....always a bit of a relief to see things coming back together
Started lumping everything together, this is where the pictures taken earlier really pay dividends......all the interconnecting cables would be impossible to keep track of
With most of the boards in the service position, as many as I dared, and using my variac I poured some power in, to my satisfaction nothing exploded or started to smoke...and with a press of the ON switch the machine powered up...……...
Wasted no time setting the emitter current left side first
followed by the right...…….
I feel encouraged by this and look forward to completing the work so I can give it a good soak test, however...and there is always one of those, I leave for the shores of Greece on Sunday for 2 weeks punishment on a windsurfer....I love it actually and cant wait, I will tidy up a little before I go, will set the Offset output to 0v on each channel and reassemble some more (keep the dust out).
Have a great holiday - never tried wind surfing - always got wet enough capsizing dinghies!
Festivities resumed after my brief break in the sun...…..FM receiver working fine, will leave it for half a day or so see how we get on.
The trials continue and after a few days now no sign of the original fault, could have been emitter current related...overload after a hour or so listening, or maybe one of the bigger caps I have replaced was breaking down.....don't know.
Only the piece's of trim to go back and we're all done......will continue to put it through its paces until Peter recovers it....
All done......connected up to a 4002 for a prolonged test drive, following on from this excursion into the modern day equipment I have been provided with a new project in the shape of a BM6000 compliments of Solderon…...I will start looking into it over the weekend ;¬)
A splendid job - I will come down once my GT6 is up and running and the weather suitable!! You will be completely safe from my bringing the BV5000s!!
Whats going on with the GT6......having work done? I have recently replaced the rear brake calipers on my Z3, easy job. I will continue to keep your BM6000 warm till you arrive.

Amazing job you have done, my congratulations. I have always loved the Beomaster 8000, I think it is the pinnacle of B&O, together with the Beocord 9000 and Beogram 8002. At that time (1970s to mid-1980s), B&O not only produced some of their most beautiful pieces but also brought technological innovations to the world.
i just wish I had the space available!
