Hi,

i hope one of you clever people can help me?

I have just swapped over a V1 for a BV11. While doing this I thought I might as well rearrange a few things, so thought it might be a good idea to have a beosound 9000 (mk1) and the BM5 in the same room. Also decided to move an BS Essence in there as well, I have a Beogram 4004 connected via RIAA to the line in of the BS Essence.

trying to set this up I was told to have one BLC with the 9000 and BM5 connected which also connects to the BLGW. I don't seem to be able to get this 2 work.

Adding in another BLC, on the BV11 it only gives me two options connect things to use the TV speakers I.e the essence and one BLC.

so my question is how do I get all that stuff to play through the BV11?

please help

thanks

Toby

Connect the BM5, BS9000, and BLGW to the NL/ML converter (masterlink)

You'll need to configure the BM5 as a source centre (to provide N.MUSIC / N.RADIO sources), and the BS9000 must have software version >=2.2.

Configure the NL/ML converter in Video Master role, and ensure all the required sources from BM5 and BS9000 are ticked in the 'sources provided to NL' screen.

Configure the BV11 to connect to the NL/ML converter, and say yes to same room / use tv speakers question.

This should result in your BM5 and BS9000 sources working through the TV speakers.

I don't think you can add a second NL product (your essence mk2) in an integrated setup to share the TV speakers too, but you can start the essence playing, and then 'join' on the BV11 to access these sources.

Hope this helps.

Martin.

Thanks Martin for your time to explain.

A few more questions.

How can i check the software numebr for a BS9000, the label says software 1.4. I did try the shift 90258 then 32 but that brought up the item number and serial number etc.

Which option do I need the BS900 to be in is it A.opt 1?

The BS5, I have it set to Audio MAster = Yes. Which option does it need to be in is it option 0?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Toby

Hi Toby,

Assuming your BS9000 still has the v1.4 software that it shipped from the factory with, it will require an update to support N.MUSIC / N.RADIO - this will require an engineer to swap the software chip but it's a relatively straightforward process. See https://www.beoworld.org/article_view.asp?id=197 for further details.

From memory, test mode 23 will give you the software version - so SHIFT 90258 then 23. Note you will need to set it to A.OPT 1 before you can access the test modes.

Once the update has been completed, the BM5 and BS9000 can both be connected to the same NL/ML converter and all the sources from both these devices will be accessible through the TV speakers.

The BM5 should be set to 'Audio Master = No', the BS9000 should be set to A.Opt 0 (it should default to this if no speakers are connected, but no harm in setting it manually anyway), and the NL/ML converter role should be set to V.Master.

The essence will be separate, and will have to be accessed via the join function of the TV - you might even consider connecting the turntable to the aux in of either the BS9000 or the BM5 instead of the essence (the latter requires a USB adapter) so that this source would also be integrated in your main room. You could then use the essence to drive a pair of speakers in another room if desired, whilst still being able to access it's sources using Join on the TV.

Kind regards,

Martin.
