Hi - does anyone know where I can get a replacement laser for my Beosound 9000 mk2?

I live in Australia but will get it from anywhere.

Thanks!

Different drives are placed in a mk2. Even a mk3 (latest version) is possible, which requires an original one.

Most of the time an ebay version will be sufficient, but to be sure, try to make a photo like below.

Maybe then we can see which laser your mk2 needs. Keep in mind that changing means changing the actual pickup element. General drives don't have the black cover just above the laser.

As Beobuddy states, there were different cd player mechanism's fitted across the range, and your's may have been replaced by another type too as a service solution.

You will need to remove the mechanism, and look for an indentifying label "VAM1205" or "VAM1250".

I understand that both type's are being manufactured again as pattern parts, but you need to be careful when ordering as the majority of VAM1250 versions on offer are not compatible with B&O.

thanks Nick - the label is VAM 1250/21, so I'm assuming that an replacement of this will do the job, yes?

No,that's the tricky one! There are loads of VAM1250's on offer, but my experience has been that they either don't work at all,or work only spasmodically.

As the laser works hard in the BS9000,you need the correct item.

I've bought these laser's from a specialist here in the U.K. and found them to be ok.The company can  also repair the mech if you send it to them.

They are used in other brands too,and due to demand, they are being made again.

I have no commercial connection with this company, but I'm happy to recommend them.

I'll send you an e.mail with further details
