So I got fed up with the not always working WISA. I’ve been running my Beolab 20s wirelessly since I bought them and I had the power link cables from my previous Beolab 9s just next to the speakers for that time.

Today I decided to connect them instead by cable and used RJ45 to DIN adapters that I got from my official B&O shop.

It all seems to work fine and all but just now while listening to music one of the speakers (the left one) started playing a weird noise that increases in level. I paused the music and it continues even still. (Maybe it was the Apple TV making the noise but I can’t say for sure. I used airplay to stream from my iPhone XS Max to an Apple TV 4K connected to a BeoVision Avant 55.

Switching between speaker groups (built in to TV and surround) I noticed no such sounds through the speakers left channel. And once I switched back to using the speakers again the sound occurred hey again in the Beolab 20 (only the left one).

I also noticed immediately after changing from WISA to PL connection that the right speaker wouldn’t turn on. I did all changes with power turned off. I had to pull the plug and power it up again. (This is what I wanted to avoid by going away from WISA, and then it was usually the left speaker that wouldn’t wake up - furthest from the wireless card in the TV).

I made a recording of it and this is it:

I don’t know but it might be the TV acting up. Hard to say... I noticed now too that it seemingly forgot to send audio to my surround speakers (Beolab 8000) and suddenly just started to output music to them.

But anyway, I’ve heard about loud noise from Beolab 20 before from others. I’ve never experienced any issues myself though.

That is a very weird noise. I do not think it is the loud noise that has been discussed here previously. My 20s have had that noise a few times and it is nothing like what your video shows. The noise that has been discussed here, at least with my 20s, is deafeningly loud and constant.

I do not have any thoughts on what the cause might be, is beyond my expertise level. However, I must compliment you on a beautiful setup!

One thought, did you change the role switch on each speaker from wireless to left and right? I only suggest it as I once had a problem my Beolab 4000s and after much frustration realized I had inadvertently left them set to line in instead of left or right power link.

Thanks Razlaw!

I haven’t heard it again. Hopefully it was a temporary glitch. Good to hear it doesn’t seem to be like the other noise that has occurred for some people here. I would be sad to come home one day to blasting speakers.

Thanks again :-)
