The glass touch panel on my Beogram CD 3500 seems to have a few "dead" buttons: some work and some don't. I took off the panel and touched each of the rubber pegs and all activate their respective functions. I tried the glass panel on another Beogram CD 3500 and all buttons on that unit function perfectly, so it's not the glass panel. I tried a different glass panel on the first unit and the same dead buttons remain dead.

So what's happening here? What do I need to do to the rubber pegs to get them to activate through the glass?

Thanks!

What is happening, is that when the glass is on your unit, the rubber pegs does not touch "hard" enough, but on the other unit, it might have longer pegs so they touch "more".

Is your glass re-glued ? Some people use to much glue or to thick tape, that lifts the glass a bit higher than original.

Hi Weebyx,

Thanks for the reply. When I tested the pegs, it was the first time the glass panel had ever been removed, so there was no extra height from tape or glue. I checked the height of the pegs versus where the glass lies and there's a good 2-3 mm above the bottom of the glass from the top of the pegs, so the contact should be pretty good and they aren't any lower than the buttons that do function.

Is there a way to either raise the height of the pegs or increase the conductivity to the glass?

Thanks,

Stephen

The "peg's" should be in contact with the conductive surface(black coating),so that when you touch the glass it triggers the sensor circuit..

Try cleaning the conductive area's of the glass too.

The pegs are placed on a metal pin. You can easily lift the pegs a few milimeters (they feel as they are glued, but they're not). Once you raised them, them will lower down a bit when you lift them too much, when placing the glasspanel back again. A lot of pegs are bend due to aging and have problems touching the panel once you glued the panels again.

Good to know. Thanks Beobuddy - I'll try that.

What is the rubber part made from? Can it be bought and then cut longer to replace the pegs?

If the glass is sticking up from the plastic surround by much more than the depth of the chamfer on the edge then the double sided tape is too thick.

So I raised the rubber contact another 3 mm by putting a band of tape underneath it, slid the glass into place so the the rubber contact would be slightly bent but also putting force against the bottom of the glass and still no reaction. Tried is with another glass panel from the other cd player and still nothing.

So what's happening?
