Hi Guys,
Maybe you already noticed that, but I'm kind of mad about papers and even more when they are B&O related: User Guides, Catalogues, Brochures…
I also find printed material more convenient when you have to dig in it to extract some sort of information.
That's why I start to restore… Service manuals from items I use and may have to repair one day.
Nothing very technical (no recapping involved at all! ):- Cleaning the original scans and making them black & white instead of dark grey over light grey.- Straightening the pages and aligning them from one spread to the next.- Reconstructing diagrams and schematics into large spreads.- Printing covers on colored paper close to those on the pdfs.- Binding the whole thing.
Here are some shots of the service manuals for Beosystem 10 and Beocord 1200/1600.
Brilliant!
On that note,- Am I the only one getting a great deal of corrupted pdfs when downloading service manuals from Beoworld.
One of many: BeoVision 7-40 Mark III Type 9370-9384 simply wont open.
I had some trouble too, though maybe this is not your particular problem: I found that the server is impatient dealing with slow connections -- it just ended some of my downloads prematurely! For the larger PDF's I had to go to a friend's house with a faster internet connection.
This is an amazing work. Looks like i have a new project ;-)
What are you using for binding? Are you doing it by yourself?
Living room: BeoVision 7 MKV + BeoLab 7-2 + 2x BeoLab 8000 + BeoLab 2 + 2x BeoLab 4000Office / guest room: BV 7-32 MKIV / BL7-1; BeoSound Core + TurntableKitchen: BeoPlay M3Bathroom: Gira Radio + BeoLab CelestialEntrance: BeoPlay M3

Yes, all by myself! Its quite easy in fact.
The binding is done with an upholstery stapler. Its strong enough to staple through 8mm of stacked paper at once.5 staples. Then the overflowing "teeth" are folded by hand with plate screwdriver or any other flat tool. The the whole staple row is hidden with the band of black paper glued with double side adhesive medium-strong.
Upholstery staples comes in various length so you can go pretty far in terms of pages.
I've stress tested the resulting book and it hold well.
Good to see this Off topic, but your work kind of reminds me of the the 700+ reprints of the manuals that Porsche is offering now for its past models.

Maybe I'm not the only one mad about papers then
(When I had my midlife car crisis, I searched and paid a lot for the original commercial brochure for that car. Quite a shame since I trashed a lot of copies since the AD agency I worked for had, beside B&O, also that brand as a client too !)
If you want more service manuals, I have a fair few that I will never use - we were given a large bundle and I scanned a fair few, which it has to be said did them no good at all ! I have a lot of the video range which are of course of very little interest to anyone on site these days! The best ones are the 60s manuals which had the great diagrams as you show in your pictures.
Peter
Hi Peter and thank you for your offer.
I'd love to see at least one in real. I'm not sure if they'll be of more use to me but I like to make collection of things. And of course share them with anyone who may need them.
There is something useful about paper manuals as opposed to PDFs and such on a screen. They can lay open there and be right ready to go when you come back to them without punching up a tablet screen or such. I find that for cooking I print out recipes rather than rely on my tablet to use in the kitchen, it's heavier and always turns itself off when you want to review the recipe, and usually my hands are too dirty for the fingerprint scanner to work! So, yeah. I still prefer books too but read on a Kindle or app because as my eyes age the increased text size and contrast makes a big difference.
So, good luck with the manual project, it looks like you're doing a good job with it!
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Amazing idea Jeff!
I'm sorry if it was asked already but do you have plans to redo the user's manual as well?
ooops just saw it in your first line...
New additions! Beosound 3, Beomaster 1001 and Beograms 1203, 2000 and 3000 mixed up and in custom colors (couldn't find the right paper!).

Just for anyone clicking "last answer" to not miss those gem's
Hi
Matador43 - did you manage to fit the wire to your Beosound 9000?
If you did can you please send me the details?
I ask as I am working on my 9000 and have to refit the wire.
Thank you
Barry
Something I had in mind since a long time…The one behind is the "reel" thing!
What a dedicated job. Excellent!
Now will you offer them on sale?
Jacques
Merci Jacques !
On sale? My god no! I can send a PDF for the stickers for whoever want it. I would have upload it on Beoworld but looks like impossible to add PDFs?Print it on sicker paper* (10€) and use the compas cutter* (6€) to cut them à 59mm Out/8mm In.
*both at Cultura
Good!
Perhaps one of the admins here could create a new space for stickers and stuff...
I was talking about the manuals. Since yours are in effect brand new, you could offer them on sale here or something. After all, it’s a lot of work.
Great idea. I would love a set of manuals for my Beosystem 7000.

Yesterday this thing arrived:
So I couldn't help but to add a little "something" around!
Still missing is the Bruel & Kjær paper band .
Following this thread, after receiving Form 1 headphones and making new pads, I started the silliest part of the project. For now it's just a proof-of-concept-scaled-mockup-model to study how the thing is cut and fold.It helped to show that the proportions are not good: the flat borders of the box are too thin. Should be easy to fix! After some adjustments I need to find a full size printer which print on cardboard…
Lock down makes me do silly things…
And of course…
The "other one"… Before and after.
While searching picture to reedit the trucks decoration I came across something that gave me the idea to do this…(unfortunately I've got too big fingers to detail it to B&O standards! Before and after…
The new one…
