Good morning Guys,
Since I have my recent Beocord 1200, I was really in love with that picture:
So I started to hunt for the missing elements, each day with less and less laziness.
And yesterday was a great fishing day! I was able to get my hands on a "Mint" Beosystem 1001!Complete, no part missing (appart from the extending aerial and sadly, the papers). Aesthically in very very good shape. Electrically working appart from the Power light : radio, tape. Didn't test Phono or FM preset yet. With Beovox 1001 also in perfect condition. All white. Price seemed fair to me.
The guy also had Beograms. Because of down to earth budget considerations I was only able to have a BG1203 in a close to waste condition. Also white, but the cabinet is heavily damaged, aluminium parts, like the arm stand shows sign of white rust, the head is an unknown condition. The "Lift" beauty cap is missing.
The dust cover was fitted with brown adhesive tape which let a lots of marks on it, but after cleaning it with alcohol for hours, it happened to be in very good condition and almost no scratches at all. Way better than the Beocord dust cover. No papers too.
I plugged it but no reaction at all.
Because of the state of the BG1203, I was given a BG3000 (5228) in dark wood. For parts or whatever use it may be. This one is turning but there's no much more happening too.
Now I hope to be able to have one of those gems getting back to work (with a preference for the 1203 as I rather the plate way more even knowing the 3000 is a better deck). I dont know really how as all the threads I've seen on Beogram restoration looks like beyond my basic skills. But maybe with luck…
Anyway, today the first step is restoring/reprinting Beogram's Service Manuals!

I know how you feel, I have a white Beomaster 1200, a white Beocord 1200 and white beovox RL35 speakers, looks great

Oh yes, they looks great! They have that very modern look along with a vintage feeling.They always remind me the futur's vision in "Logan's run" movie (In which I remember they was indeed a white Beogram installed vertically).
You're lucky to have a White Beomaster 1200. I wish I did. but 1200's where hard to find "complete", always parts missing.It will have make the set more as intended. But I also like the black panel, matching the Beocord's controls.
As I understand it, the Beovox 1001 are designed for the ambiphonic channels, so I may eventually search for a pair for mains speakers.I was afraid they gonna sound hollow but I find them quite good and full. But I dont know much about speakers ans even more from this era.
I'll start a specific thread about the Beograms but because I've only one issue with the Bombaster, I dont see the need to log the conversations with new subjects. I Post my question here hoping for someone to see it!
The tuning index is present and complete, but it has a little of lateral play (axial in fact, the axe being the center or the top part) making the tuning difficult and the slider, not sliding well.
I've taken out the bottom part and I can see 4 screws holding the scale plate. But can the index plate being taken off without removing the tuner cord? Or does it involve removing the tuning wire with the risk of loosing tuning precision?
I think the problem come from the transparent plate having fallen and then glued back but not tight enough. What i want to do is just to pad it with felt to compensate as i believe trying tor remove the glue can risk breaking that important part.
Any thoughts? Thank you.
