Hi everyone!
I recently acquired a pair of Beolab penta 1’s and have been using them with my beocenter 9500 and they’ve been wonderful! However I’m curious to know, if I connect a normal non b&o amplifier to the spring terminals on the bottom of the speaker, is the internal speaker amplifier still being used? The speaker still must me connected and the switch set to auto to make them work, is this only so the speaker knows to flip a relay on when it detects a signal? If I connect the same non b&o amplifier to the speaker link connector using a 2 pin din connector the output level is still sounds the same. So I’m basically wondering, is the only way to bypass the internal amplifier to connect directly to the screw terminals on the bottom of the “beovox” part of the speaker where the internal amplifier connects to?
Thank you!
Dom

Bypass the amplifier-sacrilege sir!
All the different connections are to accommodate various input level's,which together with the level setting switches mean that you can connect a variety of (B&O) equipment, but of course other devices could be used too.
In "auto" mode, the amplifier is triggered on by the audio appearing at any of the connections. It will switch off again some seconds after the signal is removed.
We used to demo the Penta's sometimes by connecting to a Walkman(Walkperson?)and controlling the volume via the device! You could do the same nowaday's by connecting to the headphone outlet of a tablet of course!
n.b,use screened cable when connecting, particularly to the spring clip input's otherwise you will get humming noises.
