Hello Beoenthusiasts!
It appears that I've caught a serious case of the Beovirus, as I went from owning zero B&O pieces to four over the span of three months. My latest project is resurrecting a Beocord 5000 type 4716, which arrived in decrepit condition. I managed to get it half working, but it still needs quite a bit of work before I'm satisfied. Here I have a few questions for you all:
Anyone? Would be a shame to have to abandon this project.
I can supply correct belts:

Clean and reinfuse the sinter bearings.I use Mobil Velocite 6 for all these vacuum impregnation jobs.

And post some pictures......always helps ;¬)

Your first cassette deck repair and you picked the Beocord 5000! And you got it half working - you are clearly a genius! My old repair shop would do any of my B&O but drew the line at the 5000! This is of course the one true B&O cassette player - engineered as was the case in this era, to be the ultimate tape deck. And when it works, it is really good and massively ahead of its time. At least you have the 4716 rather than the 4706 which was even more complex and worked even less well - just. You have my utmost respect in doing this and I look forward to seeing the end result.
Craig, did you get the one I gave you working?
Peter
Rudy restored a 4716 back in 2015 on the Beolover Blog. He even has a video or two of it. As Peter said, it is not the cassette deck project I would want to start out on. At the same time....you have to start somewhere :-). I hope to create another Beolover Blog post of my own Beocord 5000 that I purchased new back in 1977 but I haven't been inspired enough to dive into it yet.
Please post some good before and after photos as you work through yours. It helps us and it will help you as more sets of eyes can help spot problems.

Yes I did.....I had to have the pinch rollers renovated by a guy in the US.....but it is now in working order and doesn't chew tapes anymore, I have to say I don't use it awfully much.
**deleted as I started a new thread**
I have two and they both work, and have never chewed any tapes. But they aren’t used, just gathering dust in my collection!
Even my Beocord 9000 hasn’t played anything for quite a while. But it looks good next to the fantastic BM8000.
