Hello everyone,

A vintage B&O setup troubleshoot ...

15 years ago I linked two sets of passive speakers with x-tra speaker kits in series from my BM7000.  All worked beautifully.  Five years ago I left my house temporarily (it became a rental) but left the x-tra speakers equipment installed and capped.  Now I have returned to that house and am reconnecting everything as it was but the passive speakers will not produce sound and the IR receiver status lights do not light up. I'm thinking the IR receivers took a beating while I was gone and are fried or there is some kind of connection protocol I am not following ... I plugged the x-tra speaker cable to the mcl outputs on the 7000 before plugging the system in to and powering it up.  Did I miss something?  Appreciate any recommendations.  I would like to keep my 7000 system and it is 100% operational and otherwise sounds great with my RL60's hooked up. I would consider updating to wireless but need some guidance.

Thanks!

It's crucial that the MCL connectors to the Beomaster are in the correct order,ie as marked left and right into SP2.

When correctly connected, you should have a standby light on the MCL receiver in each extra room, also, pressing the "timer" button on the receiver, should illuminate another light too.

You can check that the supply is reaching the MCL relay boxes,by checking with a meter at the connector strips. The grey wire should be carrying about 8 volts, and the thin white wire, about 1.5-3 volt, with your negative meter wire held to terminal 1 where the bare screen wire is.

Thank you, Nick - sorry for the delay in reply.  I will check to make sure the MCL connectors & voltage and report back.

So the MCL connectors were reconnected correctly and I have sound in one ML room but not the other.  Perhaps there is a wire not tight.  I'll be checking that out shortly.  At least I have it going 50%.
