Dear all,

My beolab 5 has strange situation. It like lost the calibration data and ask for calibration again - with green light flashed intermittently ;

I think I just do the calibration last week. And now - 7 days later, when I start the beolab 5, the green light is flashed intermittently again. So I have to do the calibration again - this is very annoying. Can anybody help on this?

Thanks for your input!

Daniel

Seems this is happening to more and more Beolab 5s. I wonder if there’s a small battery inside to keep the data. Like computers have batteries to keep their bios data sometimes.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

I noticed it can lose calibration when the device connected to the BL5 in SPDIF is switched on AFTER the BL5 are switched on

Values are stored in a small eeprom which happens to be faulty at multiple bl5’s for the past time.

Calibration is done in 2 stages. The microphone comes out in 2 stages. When the mic doesn’t come out futher after the first stage, then the mechanism from the mic is faulty and the calibration isn’t finished and stored properly.

One of my Beolab 5 speakers every few months lost its calibration and the green light flashed. I had the eprom in the unit replaced and no problem ever since.

The eprom had to come from B&O headquarters as it needed special programming first.

Do you think, if I have disconnect the power like 1-2 days, the EPROM will be cleaned or not - like reset?

No, my opinion is there is an eprom fault and will need replacing.

I dont think it will be an expensive fix. The eprom must be quite cheap to purchase and it took less than an hour to take out the electronics to swap out the chip.

There are specialist tools involved and you have to wear a static wrist strap.

I would get a specialist in.
