Hi all,

I recently bought a Beogram CD X 2 and absolutely love it.

It looks amazing, technically / mechanically all moving parts work, yet there is a music quality issue when I play a CD.

The music plays without interruption / hampering, but there is a strong constant noise / grain in the sound. Kind of as you would play a (almost) completely destroyed LP. The music is clearly recognizable, but not pleasant to listen to. :D

I am aware this is very limited input as to what the issue might be, but I wanted to briefly check with you if you have a general idea on what (elements) might cause this kind of issue? I have literally no experience in (vintage) audio, hence this general question: I'd rather first have your insights than opening the player right away and potentially breaking more than fixing.

Thank you in advance for your view.

There are several possible reasons for this behavior. But one which comes to mind is still a (almost)failing capacitor 2103 on the decoderboard. Sounds like the error corrections comes in too often. But broken solder joints in the powersupply are the first to check. Then any Roederstein cap found could be the culprit.
