I have just mounted my beosound on the wall, and used one cable from a beolab 6000 to the beosound 9000 and daisy chained the right speaker to the left. However I seem to be getting a whistling sound, this does not seem to be comng from the speakers, does anyone have any ideas? The beosound has been not used for 3 months due to house renovations but worked without any problems before.
Current b and o Products
beosound 5 encore, beolabs 6000, beogram 4500, playmaker mk1
Is it mounted the same way as it previously was ? Horizontal/vertical ?
Yes it is mounted the same way as it was on the wall which is horizontal.
To eliminate the speakers as a source of the sound just disconnect them from the bs9000. Are you getting the noise with in all 6 cd positions ? Check your
switches on the back to make sure they are all in the correct position. Beyond that I am out of ideas.
I tires playing my beogram 4500 through it and then I dont get any whistling noise. Thought at first it might be the din plug coming from the right speaker plugged into the incorrect socket on the beosound 9000. But if it was id still get the noise when I play a record. No idea what could be causing it.
Would it help if I made a video of it?
I've always heard a high pitch whistling sound from mine BS 9000. I guess it's beacaue the open air construction of the CD mech. It doesn't bother me.
Can understand that, but when yours never did then does start to I am sure you would be concerned like I am.

The bs9000 should not make that noise, perhaps you both have the same problem ? I have two bs9000 and neither makes noise.
We need someone who is works on these to comment,
Does no one have an answer to this? Need help solving this whistling sound.

Same here, but very very faint. Does not bother me.
Too long to list....
As you can see my previous messages mine never made a whistling sound before and it is not a sound this system should make. As per others whom have writen here it is not a sound the beosound 9000 shuld make. Based on the way B and O make products they would never realise the product to the public knowing it made noises.
Nobody knows what this is then?
I have never had one that made a noise like this so I suggest the following:-
Re-set the suspension to the correct setting for your chosen orientation
Ensure that the spring loaded CD holders are working as they should, work them manually just to make sure.
Ensure that the clamper arm is parallel to the aluminium plate, adjust if neccesary.
If problem persists then it sounds like the noise is a function of the CD mechanism rubbing on something when it spins!
