Hello! I have had a Beomaster 2400 for years now, it's not used too much since my wife objects to speakers being on view!
However, I've always fancied a turntable to go with it and came across an ad locally for some 'old hi-fi inc. some B&O items'. Sure enough there was a Beogram 1500 turntable there but I'd need to take the lot, they just wanted the space back...
So now I'm the proud (lucky?) owner of an original Beogram 1500 type 5208 with speakers! Not quite what I was after but that's just a start!
Next up is a later style Beogram 1500 - that's more like it! And a Beomaster 4000... And a Beomaster 6000 4ch! With matching Beogram 6000 tangential turntable. No Commander remote though!
All have issues though, so I'll be scouring the forums here for help. The old 1500 powers up but platter doesn't spin - hopefully nothing major! The newer 1500 seems to be missing the flat top of the arm - opposite end from the stylus! It spins and seems to play but doesn't rise at the end of the record, skiting across the disc instead. The Beogram 6000 doesn't seem to be finding the start of the disc but will move manually using the buttons. The Beomaster 6000 has lights out on the left hand side of the display, the treble control seems to just click and it switches to standby a couple of seconds after any source/ preset is selected. The 4000 doesn't power up at all yet - but the power cord has been butchered in the past...
I think my plan of attack is to look at the Beogram 1500s first, then try to get the Beomaster 4000 to power up. From what I've read so far, the 6000 will be a much bigger job no matter what needs fixed! The Tangential turntable I think I need pictures of the arms - I don't think the bulb carrier looks quite right...
Pics to follow once I sneak them home. Wish me luck!
Sounds like your in for some fun with that lot! Post pics and keep us all in the picture

Nice collection! The 6000 system is hilarious - way ahead of its time.

I always think that if you wall mount the BM6000, it would like the display of the sick bay beds in the original Star Trek!
If only mine lit up I could confirm that!
Blinkin' iPhones...
When your ready to tackle the BM6000 have a look at this thread.....I bought a 6000 off ebay that was dead when powered up, I discovered one of the rectifiers was shorted and blowing the mains fuse feeding the primary transformer winding, this may be a good starting point for you....

Thanks Craig, I'll be doing all the reading up I can before tackling the 6000 I think!
As an aside, I had a bit of a closer look at the 4000 last night. Under the dust it was VERY clean cosmetically, only really a couple of vague water marks on the veneer and some scratches on the base. I checked the slow blow fuses, both looked fine but one end cap seemed a bit loose. Unbelievably I couldn't find a 13A fuse not in use anywhere around the house so didn't try simply changing that... I took the base off and had a quick look at removing the power cord, but it ended up in a terminal in a box that wouldn't come out after removing the obvious screw holding it in place. Nothing obviously burnt and looking all original. I picked up a new power cable this morning, so hopefully get a chance to replace that soon once I figure out how to get into the terminal block!
Well, got a call from the seller again today to tell me she'd found these beauties too...

and when I picked them up we got chatting and it seems she thinks she knows where the Commander remote is and will keep an eye out for the stands that the S75s have obviously been mounted to.
Must remember to pick up a lottery ticket on my way home!
Finally had a chance to take pics of a the two Beogram 1500s...

Video shows how slowly it was spinning at initial start up. I'm assuming this must will be a consequence of storage since 15mins later and it has speeded up considerably...

Seems to be starting, spinning and finding a 45 no problem. Only real concerns at the moment are the missing cover on the arm and that the spring under the arm appears to maybe be stretched. There certainly doesn't seem to be an awful lot of vertical movement of the arm, but that may just be an inexperienced eye!
Sticking these up from my phone, I'll try and get the tags sorted to display the pictures when I get a chance.
What's forum protocol here? Perhaps I should be starting new threads for each as I pull these out and clean them up...

And then the Beomaster 4000 that won't power up. Plug and slow-blow fuses checked so far, but you can see where the original power lead has been butchered as well - that's the full length of it...

Thanks for the reply Chartz! It's certainly speeded up this afternoon having just been left turning. I need to choose one to start on and get reading, stripping and cleaning I think.
It seems only to be working on one speed though and perhaps the tracking or arm weight needs looked at. It doesn't seem to want to find the grooves in the record although it'll sit there quite happily.
