I have a V1 that has been connected to my WiFi for years with no problems. A few days ago I replaced my WiFi system. The V1 now has a much stronger signal than before. However, it will not stay connected. After multiple disconnects I did a reset on the V1 and started all over. It stayed connected for several hours but then disconnected again. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Have you tried turning the V1 off overnight, then in the morning before turning it back on, turn off and unplug your router and all connections to it for 5 mins or so, then back on followed by the V1 back on once the router is up and running?

No guarantees this will work, but essentially you are doing a hard reset/reboot on all devices which would be my starting point in this situation.

Keep us posted, Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

I created a guest network and the V1 stays connected to it. My new network has the same name as the old one. Is it possible that the V1 is somehow still searching for the old network even though I have reset the V1 and have input the new network’s password?

I think that maybe correct. I recently replaced my router with an Eero system, and several devices would not release the old network info. In order to resolve this, I changed the network name, a solved all of the problems. I did not want to connect my devices to the guest network because in some cases, my devices find each other only if they are on the same network.

Hope you’re enjoying the V1 as much as me. It replaced my beloved Avant!

That must be the problem. Will rename the network.

Am in the process of renaming network. What is weird is old network name still shows up as an available network on my computer. I have renamed network with new system and all old Apple routers that previously were used have been disconnected.

Perhaps also “forget connection” or delete any reference that your devices have had to the old network so it doesn’t try and connect.

Odd that it shows up

Have you looked in your router settings to see too? You know how you can have one name for the 2.4 and the other for the 5GHz, depending if your router is dual or tri band etc

Just trying to think of something.

After weeks of the V1 disconnecting, I finally solved the problem with a workaround . The problem never occurred with my old Apple router, so I connected it to one of the new Velop nodes with an ethernet cable and connected the V1 wirelessly to the Apple.

Now stays connected, and as the Apple is connected to the Velop by an ethernet cable, it is still part of the same network as everything else so multiroom is working. Still do not know why it would disconnect when connected directly to the Velop.

Generally speaking, devices which sleep (such as your TV, Apple TV and so on) will often disconnect from your wifi network and attempt to reconnect when you start or open the device. This is normal behaviour. It's just a case of your router dynamically allocating the device a different IP address each time.

You can get around this by fixing your IP address. We advised this for A9 users who (like me) complained it would often disconnect even when streaming audio. Fixing the IP address usually helps.

Another thing you might want to check is your wifi frequency. Modern routers are now set to automatically find the least congested frequency, but as there are now so many routers being used by our neighbours, and so few frequencies, either your router is clashing with another within the same frequency or is reconnecting to another to avoid clashing. When this happens, if your TV is in standby, it will automatically disconnect from your network.

The way around this is to set your wifi frequency to a fixed number. Use a wifi frequency checker tool to see if there's one no other router uses and fix yours to this number: https://www.howtogeek.com/197268/how-to-find-the-best-wi-fi-channel-for-your-router-on-any-operating-system/

I did try fixing the the ip address, multiple times, still disconnected.

Have not checked the wifi frequency but had the system scan for unused or least used frequencies, again multiple times, with no success.

The V1 stayed connected for years to the Apple with no problems and is now once again staying connected. And the new Velop network as well as B and O multi room all see the V1 as part of the Velop network even though it is connected to the Apple, so all is working perfectly now. The other 20 items on the network, Core, Essence, BL50s, M5, computers, phones, Apple watch, Apple TV, smart home devices etc have all stayed connected to the new Velop system with no issues whatsoever. Integrating the Apple into the Velop system may not be ideal, and is a work around, but it has completely solved the problem. 😊
