Hi,

I have had my BL 50 in two month now. During this time the slave speaker has lost its contact 4-5 times randomly. I have changed cat6 cable between the speakers to a Cat7 but no change.

IS this something software related? Does anyone of you WHO has BL90 or 50 experience this problem randomly from time to time?

Best Regards

Hi,

great thanks for confirmation. No need to believe that something is wrong with just my speakers:-).

Except for that problem mine Bl50 works very good with the Eclipse.

You know these speakers,- would it be possible to run two masters in stand alone configuration? One left and one right?

Could you? Yes. Should you? No!!

It would take two cat 7, for l/r channels to both masters, cables and they wouldn’t sinc and you’d loose room comp. It wouldn’t be a speaker pair but seen as two sets of separate sets. So while you can for a single front l/r setup you can end up in a world of hurst and confusionStick out tongue

You can have two master connected as sets(with the slaves so to say) but that would be for a surround setup where one master is front (plus slave) and one is in the back/rear(plus slave). That would work. In both situations you’ll have two (sets) of 50’s in the app too and you’ll have to configure them independantly.

They wouldn't have to sync since the signals arrive at exactly the same time and the processing time is the same!

And if ONE single BL50 can do room compensation the other one can as well! (this is the part i dont know ?)

Do you mean wisa? in that case no.

while wired, my understanding is that they need to work as a pair and the master needs to know what the slave is doing and vice versa. But just give it a try and let us know? I would love to know what happens. I doubt it'll work well if at all, but i guess it could function sort of, but I may be wrong.

I was told to never have two masters on the same plain, as in even if you have 4x bl50's to not have both masters front or rear, but one front and one rear.

No regular wired,- can you run just the Master?

Forget about the slave for a while,- will the system allow you to setup just the master?

Hi Martin, you got any solution to the issue? I had a new pair now for two weeks and I loose the slave irregularly. I have CAT7 and no wireless. The systems goes silent and the slave shuts down and the Master stays on with no sound. I have to remove power to get them back.

Hi Beoper,

There is NO solution yet. My case is a couple of levels up at Bang&Olufsen at Manager level. I Can not accept a product for about SEK 300.000 that not work perfect. The answer right Now from BO is that they are aware of the problem and that it is a software error. This means that maybe they find a fix or maybe they dont. I am considering getting the Money back and hand over the speakers to my dealer. I just wait now for the final answer from BO managers.

I have got one new pair à couple of month ago and they where a little bit better but still the same problem. No one should buy these speakers as they are now.

If you want to know more about This issue please email me at martin.strom@telia.com

Best regards

Martin

Why are they replacing the speakers if it is a software problem? And why are there a differens between speakers with the same software?

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

That seems to be either a problem with a hardware component(s), such as a bad lot of ICs, or a bad embedded firmware version in a component/location that can't be addressed by an external software update over the network.

Also, in my aerospace days, we knew the lot number of every single piece that went into a system, every capacitor, transistor, integrated circuit, etc. And when it turned out that a certain lot of say ICs had defects that showed up after initial testing, we knew the disposition of and serial number of every system that had the potentially defective parts in it. For some reason I doubt that many commercial makers, and B&O from the way this looks, can say the same.

Hi Esax,

I have put your questions several times to BO but no logical answer from them.
