I have an Avant 55 that is very happy running over wifi (although since it is so limited, I only use it for youtube). I plan to connect a BC2 via a BLC to the Avant. The only way to connect the BLC to the Avant is to have them both attached hardwire to a switch, which I have a Netgear 5 port switch for that purpose. Here is the question, do I need to attach that switch to a router, or can I just plug both the BLC and the Avant 55 to the Netgear switch and have this work? Second question, if that does work, can I have the Avant 55 operate both with the WLAN (Wifi) for internet connection  and LAN for BC2 connection at the same time? Or does it only do one or the other?

Hi, If you have the NL/ML converter you must connect the BC2 through a ML cable to the converter and the converter must be hardwired to your LAN network / Router or switch that is connected to your router. Then your converter is visible on your Avant or in the B&O app. You then need to install the converter, directly through its own ip address (do not know it) or through the old beosetup app which is no longer available in the app store. You can then setup the BC2 for playing on your Avant or other NL units.

It does not matter if your Avant is hard wired or on wifi for the NL function, wifi is very unstable in my experience and have almost all NL units LAN hard wired in my situation. You can also still use your wifi for internet connection.

Hope this helps

Thank you. So if I hardwire the BLC and Avant to a standalone switch, not connected to a router, will that work?

Not sure but I do not think it will work. Your Avant is part of your network either by LAN of wifi and on this network needs to see your NL/ML BLC. If you only connect them together through a switch they will not be a part of your network.

If you are not able to have LAN on the position of your BLC / BC2, you can use LAN over powergrid adapter, works fine.

Hi,

In all cases you will need to attach the switch to a router and the internet. For the BLC to work the BLC registers all connected devices to the internet.

The Avant LAN port is prioritised over WiFi. I discovered the Avant has a 100Mb LAN port and I actually found WiFi to be the better connection. I do have an enterprise grade WiFi at home though.

Separately, perhaps update your TV and apps for a better experience.

Good luck Beoaus.

@Gregg

Allow me to ask what you are going to use the BC2 for?
