Hello ladies and gentlemen of the forum..

I recently got hold of an old crt Avant to use for retro gaming but am unable to get any console working through the scart plugs.

I've managed to get them running through the plugs designed for camcorder use, but cannot even access AV through either the remote, or the menu.

I read the manual online and it suggests new sources have to be registered in some way, but I've been through the available options and nothing shows up.

Anyone know what you're supposed to do?

Help would be greatly appreciated

Hi and welcome to Beoworld!

You need to go into the connection menu and tell the TV what remote button you will use to select each of the SCART sockets.

Press MENU, then go to SETTINGS and then CONNECTIONS.

Move between the three SCART input options of V.TAPE, AV and DECODER (there may be only two of these on Avant), and use the remote to change these to (eg) DTV, SAT, DVD, or V.TAPE - basically whatever button you wish to use on the remote to select them.  Then Accept by pressing GO and exit the menu.  You should then be able to select the appropriate SCART input.

Be aware that AV is NOT an input selection on your B&O remote - it is used for more advanced multi-AV system setups.

Hi and welcome to Beoworld!

You need to go into the connection menu and tell the TV what button on the remote to expect in order to select each of the SCART inputs.

Press Menu, then select SETUP and CONNECTIONS.  Move through the three (possibly two) input options (V.TAPE, AV and DECODER) and use the remote to set what remote button selects each - ie DVD, SAT, DTV, VTAPE, V.MEM.  the accept by pressing GO and exit.

Pressing (eg) DVD on the remote should now select the appropriate SCART input as chosen in the menu.

Note that 'AV' (on the B&O remote) cannot be used to select an input - it is used for other advanced functions.

I have tried to reply twice but for some bizarre reason the site is not working!! Sorry!

EDIT - have now tried editing this post and cutting and pasting my earlier one as follows!

Hi Guy,

Thanks for taking the time to reply  I tried to respond yesterday  but it disappeared

Sadly, I'm still lost.

I turn the TV on, press Menu, then thete is no connections tab, but there is a source tab. When I select that there is AV written at the top of the screen in white  and available source selections underneath in red which I can change: S VHS, Sepcial Decoder etc

None of which are useful to me.

Other than buttons to exit  no other button seems to change anything.

On the source menu, change the available source selection to DVD, then press GO to register.

You will then be able to select the AV scart input by pressing DVD on the remote.

If your remote does not have a DVD button, let me know what type it is (BL1000 or Beo4) and I will let you know how to get around that problem.

Hi Guy,

The set has an integrated VHS player, not a DVD player.

Sorry about this!

I think it's one of those.

Yes, I'd guessed that!  Hence why you need to set the SCART/AV input to be something other than V.TAPE.

If you set the SCART/AV input to be DVD, as explained above, then you should be able to select this input using your remote (irrespective of what is plugged into it).

But I still need to know what sort of remote you have:

One of these: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=695

Or one of these: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=694

And if the latter, what are the three buttons on the second row down?
